The Joint Monitoring Programme report titled “Progress on Sanitation and Drinking Water: 2015 Update and MDG Assessment” released by the UN Children’s Fund and the World Health Organization said one in every three or 2.4 billion people on the planet are still without sanitation facilities, including 946 million people who defecate in the open. It said India is among the 16 countries that have reduced open defecation rates by at least 25 percentage points. In India’s case, there has been a reduction by 31 per cent in open defecation, a progress termed as “moderate” by the report.
Still leading the world ranking though: Source and WHO Report.
Today in poop news
It always amazes me how lucky I am to be born in a developed nation.
My brother was in India while he was in the Navy, the beer gave him dysentery and when he was walking down the street, someone in front of him stopped, took his pants off and shit in front of him. The only thing he said redeemed his time there was his friend offered a tuk-tuk driver a bottle of jack daniels, so he was able to drive it around with the driver passed out in the back. :v:
I guess Modi kept his promise about toilets.
-accidental post, sorry-
boy oh boy indias got its work cut out for it before it joins the developed world
Now there's some shit news!

yay
If you ever watch actual street massage videos from India, you kind of get an idea of how parts of the country are. Trash everywhere, everything is dirty, horrible hygiene, etc. Other parts are very nice, but they as a whole still have some moving up to do.
"one billion people practising open defecation" Jesus Christ.
It makes me feel bad that I live in a country where people shitting in the streets isn't something that typically happens.
It makes me feel bad that I live in a country where people shitting in the streets isn't something that typically happens.
..... What.
It makes me feel bad that I live in a country where people shitting in the streets isn't something that typically happens.
Is being able to shit in the street something you aspire to do?
It makes me feel bad that I live in a country where people shitting in the streets isn't something that typically happens.
I understand wanting to shit on the lawn of your hated neighbor, but what did folks in your town do to you?
i think he means he feels first-world guilt
Defecating to the sunrise is downright glorious; India knows this.
It's progress, and hopefully the trend continues! If India can manage to do it, so can the rest of the world and maybe we can finally put to rest diseases that come from terrible sanitation.
I wonder how did they get that information about exactly 1 billion people doing that thing.
