I currently have Pentium Duo 2.00ghz 3gb Ram Radeon 5750HD Upgrading too AMD Phenom x4 3.2ghz Quad Core 4gb Ram Same graphics card. I am wondering if I will see a good noticable difference in games like APB BC2
Let's just say, it'll be speedy. YEAAAAHH!!!! On a more serious note, huge improvement.
you won't need the extra ram (unless it's a different type) but upgrading the processor will make a night and day difference
What OS? And yeah, you will notice the difference.
I am running Vista 32bit >.<
Well you'll have to buy a 64 bit OS.
Well you'll have to buy a 64 bit OS.
A windows license covers 32 and 64 bit, he just needs to get the iso.
A windows license covers 32 and 54 bit, he just needs to get the iso.
Really? I didn't know that. And he doesn't have to install 54 bit, right?
A windows license covers 32 and 54 bit, he just needs to get the iso.
He didn't say if it was OEM or retail. A retail key covers both 32 and 64 bit but OEM keys don't as far as I remember.

Yeah... I'm not so familiar with anything your talking about, as to Operating Systems.... soooo
A windows license covers 32 and 64 bit, he just needs to get the iso.
Seriously? I'll just gvet my friend off that 32-bit Vista...

You'll probably want to upgrade the processor at a later date the original phenom's are very bad.

you'll definitely see an improvement in bc2. bc2 runs like absolute shit on dual cores, especially >2.6ghz cores. apb, I don't know.

It would be better to just go with the new ones. the Phenom II. The phenom II x4 is a budget monster, a good amount of bang for teh buck
It would be better to just go with the new ones. the Phenom II. The phenom II x4 is a budget monster, a good amount of bang for teh buck
The original Phenoms didn't reach 3.2GHz (or am I wrong?), so it's most definitely a Phenom II.
It is The Phenom II x4, didn't realize i left out the "II". It should be arriving today for me. =D EDIT: Exact Name of Processor AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor HDZ955FBGMBOX
Yeah... I'm not so familiar with anything your talking about, as to Operating Systems.... soooo
Basically as long as you are running a 32bit OS you can't use more than 3.2GB or so of your RAM (if your video card uses 1GB it's even less. 32bit Windows can only use up to 4GB of memory max, and your video card memory plus some of windows's virtual memory AFAIK is included in this figure). So unless you upgrade to 64bit windows (note: will have to reinstall everything and it will wipe the partition/drive windows is installed on), you can't use more than 3 or so GB of your RAM anyways, so don't get the extra gig unless you plan on upgrading your OS in the future.
There's ways around the 4GB limit. However 64 bit is better if you can use it.
There's ways around the 4GB limit. However 64 bit is better if you can use it.
No, there is not. The 4GB limit (which again includes your video card memory and some memory for Windows) is a hard-limit, not a software one.
There's ways around the 4GB limit. However 64 bit is better if you can use it.
elaborate?
You can use PAE, which extends every general register to 64 bits, and adds more address lines etc Its supported by 32 bit Windows as far as i know, and the best is I think VM16 is still supported with PAE Although shitty drivers may go apeshit
