Update: She passed away during the night... Now, I know most of GD doesn't like blogpunch, sob stories, "ohmygodmylifesucks" threads, but I really wanted to share this with you guys. I don't know why, maybe just to show people that shit happens, and it can happen to anyone or anything when you least expect it. Two years and a half ago, my mom watched Marley and Me and loved it. She wanted a dog like Marley, from the movie. Few days pass by, she sees an ad for boxer puppies being sold, and contacted the person selling the dogs. There weren't any left. But as luck would have it, they called her back and asked her if she knew anyone who would be willing to take a boxer pup, as someone who had bought one, her husband was allergic to it. That's when we got Marley. She was a female boxer, born in January of 2009. She was an amazing dog, and couldn't be any closer to the dog from the movie. She was clumsy, yet lovable. We'd leave the house, come back not even an hour later and she'd be so happy to see us, acting like she hadn't seen us for days. She was a big baby, too. You could cuddle with her, and she'd sleep until the morning beside you. But, she did have her little mischevous acts; eat through anything and everything, anhialate the garbage, etc. But hey, besides that she was an amazing dog. Funny how life works. I'm tearing up as I'm writting this, so please forgive any grammar mistakes. Today was just an ordinary day, nothing out of the normal was happening. I was sitting on the couch, watching a movie on Netflix when Marley ran up to me and made some pouting noises; she wanted to go out. I told my little brother to let her out, and continued watching the movie. He comes back in, pissed off that she won't listen to him and telling us (me and my mother; she was in her room, I was in the living room) that she ran across the street to see the neighbours dog ( A male, black lab. They're friends. ) I move the curtain, the window of the living room faces the street and I see her hopping around playing with the dog. I hear my brother go outside and call her again, and she looks towards our house and starts crossing the street. I smile. Her ears flop as she runs, and she's cute. I didn't smile for long, though. In a matter of a few seconds, a speeding car hits her and drives off. It's really shocking to see the dog that you love get hit right infront of your eyes. I jumped up, yelled out to my mother "A car hit her!" and I run outside.. She was right there, laying in the grass. Breathing deeply and slowly, blood dripping from her mouth, various parts of her fur left place to bloody patches. I ran inside, grabbed her blanket out of her cage as well as her water bowl and kneeled beside her. I started crying, for the first time in a long time... Fast forward, we rush her into the back of the Jeep, when a man walked down our driveway. He told us the car that hit Marley was a cab; he was the passenger. Fast forward again, we told him to come back later and thanked him. We rushed to the vet, they took her, told us they'd give her some anti-inflamatorys and take care of her, but that they didn't know yet the problem; her body was still in shock. My mom signed the papers, we left her there. We're still waiting for news, so we don't know whats happening. The Vet didn't assure us that she was going to live, nor did he assure us she was going to die. I don't know about the rest of Facepunch, but I really get attached and my dogs are part of my family. As corny and stupid as this may sound, they're like brothers/sisters to me. I got home 30 minutes ago, about... And let me tell you guys this: It's not home without her. The simple fact she wasn't jumping at the door and running to bring me one of her teddy bears when I came in made me cry.. Pictures of her: This might not be as interesting as my Hedgehog thread, but I guess there's a lesson to be learned here. Interpret it as you will..
I really feel for you man, seeing your dog get hit by a car is an almost indescribably horrible experience. I hope she makes it.
:frown: I've had a boxer for around 8 years now, they're my favourite breed. I can't imagine what it'd be like for something to happen to him
I wish the best for your dog OP. Hopefully you can find who the driver was.
That dog is wrinkly. But so cute :3: Good luck, I hope she turns out okay.
Thank you, guys.
that driver was a faggot. were i to hit someone's dog, i'd probably be so damn upset.
Find that bitch, you know what to do.
Oh my god that is horrible, fucking cabs. :saddowns:
I wonder what the cabbie said to the passenger to try and justify driving away
Shame you didn't get a license plate. Most states have hit and run laws for animals, too. I've never had a dog myself since I'm allergic, but I can imagine it's similar to losing a family member. Best of luck, I hope she pulls through.
The passenger, who was being dropped off a few houses down, told us that the cab was indeed speeding. Going 55 in a 30 zone. That might not be that bad, but I'm sure if he was going slower it would've changed things a lot.. The passenger is going to come back later. He said he knows what the cab driver looks like and where he lives. My mother wants to get the police involved. Personally, I see it as an accident, but as I said before; he could've been watching and been going slower, but it's still a Hit and Run.
Goddamnit I've forgotten what to do when a dog is hit a by a car, I've been studying animals for 1 year now, whereas dogs were a big chapter. Hope she survives, I love my dogs and would probably react the same way if this happened to them.
cab drivers are assholes in general, i hope your dog gets better
best wishes, OP
We actually hit our own dog once and it was with a big truck. Unfortunately he didn't die and now he has a couple of steel bolts in his leg. I hope your dog has the same luck of surviving.
That sucks bro
She was clumsy, yet lovable. We'd leave the house, come back not even an hour later and she'd be so happy to see us, acting like she hadn't seen us for days. She was a big baby, too. You could cuddle with her, and she'd sleep until the morning beside you. But, she did have her little mischevous acts; she'd chase cats down the street, eat through whatever was holding her, anhialate the garbage, etc. But hey, besides that she was an amazing dog.
That's pretty much how 90% of dogs act.
If some guy just ran over my dog and drove off, I'd follow his ass and beat the shit out of him. fuck the cops.
Hope your dog comes out ok, OP.
This thread made me sad. Glad your dog is still alive. Hoping for the best for Marley (Cute name)

Oh god... I've had 2 Boxers in my lifetime and I can't imagine the pain you are going through.
That's horrible, OP, but I find it weird that you A: Let your little brother take your dog out where you evidently don't have a fence or something, and B: Actually allow your dog to go across the street to another person's house basically by itself. Had you not let her off like that, this would not have happened. People are fucking stupid, you have to think FOR them to protect your animals.
I blame myself for what happened to her, DTkach. But where I live, most dogs aren't really tied either. There's a fence, but she CAN run out from the driveway, she usually doesn't though.. We don't allow her to go across the street, but like people, dogs don't always listen.

I really wish Marley luck for you. :frown:
