Good on them, at least they listened. Though I wonder how much was actually listening to the community, and how much was plain-old lost sales because of their policies?
I love SimCityand citybuilders and such, but I still haven't gotten the new SimCity. Probably never will.
The only real downside to this is that you won't be able to have your friends sims directly associate with your sims, if they're going for the same offline style currently found in Sims 3.
If they had that, I think the player base of The Sims would be very happy.
We all told EA before Simcity came out, and EA refused to listen

I don't see why this just couldn't be made optional if they wanted to implement it

They were going to make it online only though so there not really learning anything.
Sad that SimCity of all games had to burn and fail for this to happen, especially since a socially connected online multiplayer aspect makes a HELL of a lot more sense for Sims4 than it does for SimCity
Bullshit, Id rather have a shit online than no online at all

They are learning because the decided not to.
They probably decided to make it online back before the whole Sim City thing, then because of it they changed their minds.
I would call that learning from their mistakes.
Rumor has it that Sims 4 will have coop.
I'm glad they're not forcing the online on everyone because of it.

Honestly, that could be really awesome. Like having a neighborhood with a couple of your friends living in it too.

Simcity 5 is still for sale.
To be honest, I never understood why SimCity out of all games had to have an always-online requirement. I always thought that games like The Sims would gain a lot more from multiplayer than SimCity does.
Sims 4 of course would make more sense to have online features, but the first run of a new idea always is rougher than later iterations. I'm guessing SimCity's online requirement was meant to test out how online would work and to iron out its features.
It would be cool as shit though to have a sims game with PROPER multiplayer. Imagen having a sims town and the ability to invite your friends etc to have their sims in that town aswell.
Would be such a cool feature
