you will need to reformat therefore you will need to get new drivers. but W7 will get everything except video and sound drivers. so it should be easy. actually it might get video drivers, but i'd install the ones from ati/nvidia site anyway. also, you can't use XP drivers on windows 7.
So, I'm not sure where to find the sound drivers. Its integrated sound so...
well you have either realtek or VIA then, probably check your playback devices, i think it says the name under the device. or do start > run >dxdiag and go to the sound tab

The only sound I've had it not pick up were the drivers for my Razer Barracuda.

Just run the installer in compatibility mode.

I used driver for my printer that was for vista in compability mode, works fine.

Step One: Boot into Linux using a free LiveCD. Step Two: Move your entire user folder from Documents and Settings to the root of the C:\ drive. Step Three: Delete everything else on the drive, leaving just your user folder. Step Four: Install Windows 7 + other OSes you need. Tip: When you install windows and you use the same username from your XP installation, you won't have any conflicts with user permissions when moving files back where they belong from the user folder.
yes but he's going from XP
My scanner that is 9 years old still works on Vista. So there is no reason why his printer shouldn't.

Just look up the drivers for your hardware on the manufacturer's website. If Windows 7 drivers aren't available for download yet, just use Vista's drivers.
