I think my graphics card has died, how do I know for sure?

A few days ago when testing a map for a friend both my monitors froze, then blue shapes appeared on both of them, the PC then froze, I had a BSOD and it began to restart.
Since then, my right monitor doesn't come on when the PC does, my left monitor has 5 packs of blue lines spaced equally apart going from top to bottom, I can't play any games or render anything which is 3D and my Vista theme has been reset to default and locked.
here are some pictures so you can see.

When I turn my PC on in the morning it works fine until it randomly breaks again, once when closing a tab in Firefox.
Any help would be appreciated as this is driving me nuts, since I can't map/model/play games.
What does it say about the graphics card? Right click > Properties.
Usually when there is an exclamation mark it means that something is wrong...
Maybe this could tell us more

Looks like from the pictures your card was overheating and is now broken. Have you updated your drivers?
Fox.
Couldn't find a download button for HWMonitor...

Uninstalled current ones, reinstalled latest, didnt work, uninstalled them and rolled back a version, still didn't work.

AUXTIN has temps over boiling point? Hmmm, that CAN'T be good!

I don't mean to be a retard, but could you explain to me what an AUXTIN is? I assume the AUX part is auxiliary?

It just a sensor reading glitch. I have one that says 1c.

I didn't know what it was either, but searching has said its the Power Supply's temperature. It has a bad reputation of giving a VERY false reading. No alarm then! I'm sure you would feel your room heat up if your comp's giving off boiling temperatures and remaining on.
So my graphic card is definitely fucked?

Ah good, phew.
Oddly enough, your GPU's temperature aren't on the HW Monitor... hmmm

Cause its been disabled by Device manager. OP more than likely the card over heated and broke causing the lines and crashing. If you have another computer to test it in or if you have a extra graphics card to test in this computer to double make sure it is the card.

Also, if you haven't already tried, re-seat the whole GPU. It's always worth a shot.
However, like Thor said, lines are usually the clearest sign of GPU failure.

No other computer and no other card, I blew most of my money on this PC, I don't even have enough to replace it.
:ohdear:
My job only barely covers the price of petrol I need for my car.

You'll probably have to either keep the broken card in there or switch to your onboard graphics card (if you have one on your motherboard). Also, see if the card is under warranty and see if you can a replacement from the manufacturer. Even if its out of warranty, it's still worth a try to contact the manufacturer.
Good luck to you sir!
When you cant update a driver, that usually means that the hardware is broken. Im pretty sure you need a new graphics card
Exact same thing happened to me. But they were red lines horizontally. It was also an 8800. Random driver crashes until I couldn't boot into windows because the driver crashed immediately causing a BSOD. Warranty if you can otherwise, you'll have to buy a new one.
I have seen so many 8800 cards die this year, i think it is the end of the line for the card, mine also died in February.
So putting it in the oven did the trick, ey?
I fear for my 8800 Ultra. It's the only thing remaining from my previous computer.
I made a quick glance at the problems you're having, and they remind me of a few problems I had with Freespire before. Try reinstalling your drivers via the CD if you can.
The card itself may be broken, but it isn't dead. I had a 7800 GT die on me, and the computer couldn't detect the card at all.
