Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday evening asked Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit to explore the legal steps that could be taken against three Arab MKs who held a meeting with the relatives of terrorists killed carrying out attacks on Israelis.

Netanyahu and Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein said Thursday that they were jointly lodging an unprecedented complaint to the Knesset’s Ethics Committee against the three, saying the meeting constituted incitement and “encouragement to murder.”
In a statement Thursday, Netanyahu said the MKs were “not worthy to serve” in the Knesset.
“Members of Knesset who go to comfort the families of terrorists who murdered Israelis do not deserve to be in the Israeli Knesset,” he said.

The MKs met with the father of Baha Alian, a Palestinian who was part of a two-man team that killed Israelis Haim Haviv, Alon Govberg and Richard Lakin in Jerusalem in October, and with relatives of other terrorists.
What a blatant monster
Didn't realise this was illegal.
What a blatant monster
A monster for being annoyed that members of parliament are going to families of murderers and helping spread anti-Israel hate?
I see his point. Why would the MKs go and comfort the families of terrorists?
What a blatant monster

Didn't realise that was illegal. Oh well, Netanyahu can go fuck himself.
I'm Arab and I even agree with Netanyahu. Sure, he's not a nice guy but this is a logical step.
Are the families guilty of a crime?

Fuck himself for what?
Fuck himself for what?
For being in charge of the Fifth Jewish Reich duh
Are the families guilty of a crime?
The family is paid by the PA if a family member commits a terror act so yes, they are in directly benefiting from a terror act.
Fuck himself for what?
I'm fairly certain that most people here don't even bother reading the OP-- they just see 'Netanyahu' and immediately decide that they've got a chance to slip in their blatant hatred of Israel.
Shit, I'm pretty sure someone could post 'Netanyahu donates millions to children's charity" and we'd still receive floods of hate.

That doesn't answer the question
For being in charge of the Fifth Jewish Reich duh
There are people who genuinely believe this and that's a serious problem.
Didn't realise that was illegal. Oh well, Netanyahu can go fuck himself.
I knew including Netanyahu in the headline was a mistake. It only prevents people from reading the OP and assuming its just Netanyahu being a dick again.
Are the families guilty of a crime?
No, but visiting them and showing sympathy and support by someone in their official capacity shows support for the "victim" as well as the family.
For example, it's one thing if a senator visits the family of a rape victim to show support. It's an entirely different thing if they visit the family of the rapist.

Alright, fine - I'm not a fan of Netanyahu or overall policies when it comes to settlers taking palestinian land but my point still stands - it's not technically illegal so his case won't really have any ground. But yeah, I missed a few points in the article. I can understand being sympathetic with the families for their loss and trying to reclaim the bodies for burial (building bridges) but calling them martyrs and outright sympathising with the terrorists themselves is unacceptable for members of government.

Holy shit, that's my last name.

cool
I can understand why he doesn't want people to comfort the families but taking legal action is too much IMO. I think they should resign from their positions in Knesset and then be left alone.
The legal action will be to remove them from the Knesset, not to charge them with a crime.

In that case I have no problem with this.

Won't happen.
Those PM's are members of the unified Arab party, the third largest political party in Israel. They're doing pretty much what they were elected to do.
More importantly, it's not likely Netanyahu will be able to pass the kind of law against them he has in mind since most PM's really don't like voting for laws that could potentially limit their own immunity.
Plus even if it does pass it probably won't survive the Supreme Court.
The Knesset's Ethics Committee decided to suspend Arab MKs Haneen Zoabi and Basel Ghattas from meetings of the Knesset and its committees for four months, while MK Jamal Zahalka will be suspended for two months.
The three Joint List members faced disciplinary action after meeting with families of terrorists who murdered Israelis, and advertising the existence of the meeting on social media.
The MKs will still be able to vote at the Knesset and its committees.

Also Monday, the government supported a bill that would allow a lawmaker to be suspended by a 90-vote majority in the 120-seat parliament. The bill, which still needs to pass a series of readings to become law, would provide for the suspension of anyone whose behavior is deemed "unbecoming" for a parliamentarian.
