I have Virtual Audio Cable so that I can listen to music while I record gameplay footage without the footage including any of my music.
This is set up by having "Line 1" as the default audio device. Then I manually open the Audio Repeater so that audio from Line 1 is routed through my headphones.
This works, and it did not cause any issues for a while.
But for some reason, this set up will randomly cause audio to speed up; this issue also causes videos to speed up as well.
I checked google, and someone said that the issue was that the Sample Rates differed, but both are set to 48000 Hz.
The only thing that works is changing the sample rate through Windows for "Line 1," but sometimes that doesn't work right off the bat, and more often than not the issue will just resurface.
Even when I set the Sample Rate in Windows to 44100 Hz while the VAC Audio Repeater is set to 48000 Hz, this seems to fix the issue temporarily.
I can be watching a video flawlessly on YouTube, then I click on a new video just to find that it is sped up from my audio repeater.
