• Insane internet speed

Hey guys, this isn't really a problem, but something really weird just happened, and I wanted an opinion. I went to a website to download a certain large file, which happened to be 600MB. A normal size for this type of file. So I start downloading it, and within 5 seconds, the entire file was done downloading. I then checked it, thinking surly something was wrong, yet the entire file was intact...all 600MB. Do you guys have any idea how something like this is possible? Because I certainly don't. Thanks. --Mikey
I've had that before... downloaded a fairly large file at 1500kb/s (as fast as my internet goes).. I'd say you just got lucky and found some fast low load servers.
Luck. I've had that happen where I downloaded the COD MW2 Free Weekend in about 30 seconds.
Well I live in Australia. It takes me more than an hour to download a 600MB file >:(
120mb/s I think that's unlikely. Than you internet speed should be about 1gb/s (I download with 2mb/s and my internet is 20mb/s). And for COD:MW in 30sec it should be about 373mb/s.

Yeah, thats about what happened to me...wish it would happen more often...
My connection does that sometimes. It's just a bandwidth spike. The spike only lasts a few seconds, then my speed goes back to 2MB/s where it belongs :downs:
My ISP offers a service called PowerBoost, basically it bursts your internet downloading speed by 2x for the first minute of download, and then gradually slows down to the standard speed. Must have been a one time thing
You probably just downloaded a torrent.
You probably just downloaded a torrent.
Are you kidding me?
It's likely you were downloading a video or something that was already stored in your cache.
It's likely you were downloading a video or something that was already stored in your cache.
I definitely wasn't.
Are you kidding me?
Well he didn't download a 600mb file in 5 secs that's for sure. I've seen people say this before.
You did not download all 600mb in 5 seconds you are mistaken.
Then why was I able to watch the video immediately afterwards?
It streamed?
Maybe you had the "Save file?" window open in Firefox. That already downloads it.
600MB for me (as I had 430 kb/s down) took a good hour. It's down to ISP. If your ISP is great with QoS(Quality of Service) then prepare for insane downloading speeds, you propably live somewhere close to an exchange as well, which makes it better. ahh 430Kb/s down, I miss that.

If you download a torrent it cant some times say that the file size is say 600MB but that's just the allotted space for that file. For example I just downloaded a torrent for the latest lost episode and it says it's 350MB, but i haven't even downloaded any thing yet. Its just displaying what the file will be.
yet you say
The thread is done, let it die.
The thread is done, let it die.
so you basically lied
so you basically lied
I didn't, one guy said I was mistaken, and the other guy gave me a logical explanation which made me change my answer. Are you happy now?
I didn't, one guy said I was mistaken, and the other guy gave me a logical explanation which made me change my answer.
