• A majority of the country thinks that President Trump is abusing his power
A new Quinnipiac University poll released on Wednesday suggests that, since a surge in opposition early in his presidency, strong opposition to or support for Trump’s job performance has been fairly steady — suggesting no great erosion that would cause increased nervousness about those elected officials yet. ... When asked if Trump is abusing his power overall — not just in the Comey case — more than half of Americans agree. That includes only 12 percent of Republicans, presumably overlapping substantially with that 12 percent that didn’t vote for him. But 46 percent of independents voted for Trump in 2016, and more than half now think he’s abusing his power. In short? Republicans stand by Trump, but the undercurrent of concern about the ongoing investigations is often broader than the support the party showed him during the last election cycle. Independents tend to align more with Democrats when considering the question of how Trump’s behaved on the matter. We’re often quick to point out warning signs that may amount to nothing. But when there’s a warning sign, it’s still generally worth pointing out. And for Trump and his party, this poll is a warning sign.
Washington Post There's much more statistics in the article, but it's interesting to see the gradual trend of Republicans turning against him. Independents are already starting to side with Democrats in almost all the questions.
I honestly hope all them of Trump administration (Including Mike) needs impeached and needed to be new Election despite even going violated 25th Amendment anyway.
Yet we have people who think he should take it further. The internet is a crazy place for political discussion
Numbers aren't terribly surprising but seeing the degree of difference between Republicans and Independents is depressing. Party before country, indeed. The internet is a crazy place for political discussion
I've talked to people on FP who's sole criticism of Trump is that he hasn't gone far enough.
Theres few times you can actually say "Wrong side of history" and have it mean anything. I feel like this is one of those times.
"But, guys, it's technically within his power to do all of this? Abuse of power? Never heard of it. :downs: "
I've talked to people on FP who's sole criticism of Trump is that he hasn't gone far enough.
what the fuck just how far should he go then? all the way to "gunboat diplomacy with atomic weapons by the United Surveillance States of the Republicans"?
Theres few times you can actually say "Wrong side of history" and have it mean anything. I feel like this is one of those times.
Relies on who wins out in the end, really. Like how it has been in most of history.
Relies on who wins out in the end, really. Like how it has been in most of history.
Oh sweet jesus christ why do people keep repeating the moronic "winners write history :downs:" idea. It's not true. Not in the slightest. It's not true for Ireland, where we wrote our own history despite losing for oh idk almost the last thousand years, it wasn't true for those who fled Constantinople, it wasn't true for the Jews who suffered during the Holocaust, it isn't true for those who suffered under communism etc. etc. Boiling down history in such idiotic and simplistic means just helps perpetrate shitty ideas and views.
Relies on who wins out in the end, really. Like how it has been in most of history.
That's really only true when you're the only survivors, not just the winners.
Numbers aren't terribly surprising but seeing the degree of difference between Republicans and Independents is depressing. Party before country, indeed.
I wonder if it's actually a case of party before country or that republican ideals have gone berserk.
fucking republican partisans, they'd shout HAIL CEASAR if this were rome and the senate was suddenly suspended.
Relies on who wins out in the end, really. Like how it has been in most of history.
Which is why everyone agrees the trail if tears was neat o riffic right?
Relies on who wins out in the end, really. Like how it has been in most of history.
Not really, While it's often the case, it's not a set-in-stone thing, especially not in our current age of free information. "Trump was a complete a moron" is going to be a sentiment passed down for generations to come- and if there actually is any attempt to gloss over this fact, all people have to do is look up some of the abundant footage of the guy speaking like a 10 year old on Youtube.
