For some reason Vista Service Pack 1 won't install! I know the problem, there is an important update before I can install SP1. Right? That update WILL NOT INSTALL. I tried it from Windows Update, Microsoft site, and from various other sites. But the update still FAILS! The reason I'm so pissed about the SP1 is because: WITHOUT SP1 MY GEFORCE 9500GT DRIVER KEEPS STOP RESPONDING IN EPISODE 2 ENGINE GAMES!!! It PISSES ME OFF! Help me please! It would help to tell us the error code
Try installing new drivers, if those don't work you might have to contact microsoft support
How long have you had the PC running before attempting to install SP1. My friend's PC with x64 Home Premium wouldn't allow the SP1 to install either. He's had Vista about 4 months before attepmting to install it. We reinstalled Vista and installed the SP1 first thing and it worked flawlessly. Come to think of it, same thing happened to me too.

Had this happen to my virtual Vista. Had to run Windows Update and get everything. Worked afterwards. But yes error code would help.
That's what those instructions were for.
Ohhh. I tried it and it didn't work.. As you can see I posted 2 pictures above. Note: I DO have UAC off and am on an administrator account.
I honestly don't think that would have anything to do with it. You could try enabling UAC and trying.
But UAC has administrative problems.. I also hate restarting so many times too. Annoying. I ran CMD as Administrator (by right clicking it)
Did you try installing the update as a standalone or SP1's offline installer?
Did you try installing the update as a standalone or SP1's offline installer?
I tried both ways. Same error. I need that important update shown above to install SP1.
it this a legit copy
Yes it is.

Im still running my Vista Ultimate without any SP.For one I wont install either, and 2 I run fine without it so I don't trip on it to much. I haven't had any issues with anything in 2 years Ive had it installed. When I build my next Rig next year I will put Windows 7 on it. Edit:Tried 5 times back in February but no luck
its never XP time get windows 7.
Look at the date.
Yeah mine wont install one of the updates either. Its the code one for running things programed in c#, or something I can't recall what its called and I'm not at home to check. Just go to windows 7 there isn't a real way to fix such things that I can find (googled for days).:frown:
Look at the date.
oh, whoops. at least it was this year.
