• Food that helps me lose weight?

So, I'm having holidays now, and I'm thinking of losing weight. Right now, I'm 58kg, at 161cm tall. Planning to drop to 45kg. Any suggestions?
Umm, that's dropping from a perfectly healthy BMI of 22.4 to a BMI of 17.4, which is quite low in the underweight category. Why do you want to loose weight? (and yes, I know that waist:hip ratio and that are more useful than BMI, which is generally poor, as muscle weighs much more than fat) I'm hardly one to comment on BMI, though, mine is 18 or so, at 177cm and 57kg Even then, the best way to loose weight is, as cliché as it sounds, to eat less, although you probably want to eat differently, too. So, I'd recommend going for at least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day, trying to cut down on carbohydrates a lot, protein's generally good. Common health sense is to cut down on sat-fats - you want a tiny amount, but not much at all. Also, stop crisps, assuming that you eat them. They're seriously one of the most unhealthy food types out there, with amazingly high salt levels, and they're quite bad for fat. Still, all that's incredibly basic year 10 (don't know US equivelant, High School?) stuff, so you'll probably want someone else to tell ya.
Wait so you're a girl? 45 kgs sounds way too low. It's kinda hard to estimate how much you should lose, cause weight/height ratio doesn't matter a shit. I'm 166 cm and 70 kilos, my body fat is around 8%. If I'd be a woman I'd be dangerously anorectic with that body fat. Got any pictures of you? Whatever you do, don't rush it. Use an online calculator to count how many calories you use daily, and use a -500 calorie deficit. Rush diets cause several health problems and you often end up looking skinnyfat because you lose muscle tissue. Cut down carbs a little, eat more protein and remember to eat fats. Fats don't make you fat, eating more than you consume does. Milk quark mixed with some fruits and/or yogurt is a good snack. Great source of protein, not much calories.
Fruit and Chex are delicious and don't add much weight to yourself but still fill you up :) [editline]19th November 2011[/editline] It's okay to eat what you crave, it makes life worth living Just smaller portions. Try putting food on a smaller plate so it looks like more. Also eat until you feel about 80% full because that's usually when you are full

If you really want to lose weight, I suggest you cut back on junk food, (poptarts, oreos, etc.) and also consider joining an intramural running club or sports activity, it's a fun and great way to be more fit and lose weight in the process.
drink more water.
[QUOTE=EmZajex;33344598]Fruit and Chex are delicious and don't add much weight to yourself but still fill you up :)[/QUOTE] fruit is delicious and full of nutrients, but is also loaded with sugar. and whilst it's at least natural sugars, and not heavily processed junk, just loading up on fruit is no way to go. not least because you'll give yourself a sore stomach, due to the fruit acids. and Chex appears to be a basic cereal? which is fine for getting some carbs in you, but other than that (and some fibre) it offers little nutritional value. in my opinion "fruit and chex" isn't a great idea. the basics of losing weight is very simple; eat less exercise more increasing the amount of water you drink is also recommended. it's always important to keep hydrated (as i'm sure you know, living in singapore), and drinking plenty throughout the day can help curb your appetite, and taken with meals means you tend to stay feeling fuller, for longer. but like a few people have already said in this thread, it doesn't sound like you need to lose weight. also, i thought you were a guy?
Is skipping carbs a good idea.
lowering your carb intake could help, but only in moderation skipping carbs entirely is going to leave you feeling lethargic and craving carb rich foods, and it's not actually very good for you at all. if you eat a lot of foods that are high in carbs but offer little else (lots of white bread, pasta etc.) then you can lessen the amount of them you eat, but do not cut them out altogether.
What bout organic foods. I heard eating them will help me lose weight cause of all the pesticide and shit.
no, i'm pretty sure that's bullshit
If you're really worried about eating to much then focus more on a high fiber diet, you'll basically shit everything out. [editline]26th November 2011[/editline] Just exercise more and remember dieting is bullshit, you have to have a lifestyle change instead of a "woah gained some weight better go on a diet for 6 weeks until I lose something and go back to my old habits".
I still say that you're well within the recommended weight boundaries, be it boy or girl. I'm only a bit heavier than your target and am actively trying to gain weight. (healthily, so exercise the same/more and eat more) Why do you want to lose weight? Bullying or something? If so, they're bullshitting you.
