OMG nostalgia attack!!! Also i really liked all those levels, they should have included them.
I had this on my computer for the longest time. I had it the first day it came out, thinking ( Holy shit it looks so REAL! ) I had it well over a year after I bought HL2.
The thing I miss from Traptown was the combination zombie sounds, the mix of old Half Life zombie sounds and new zombie sounds. I wish they had those back (along with everything else from the beta)
Oh the nastalga :D Fuck you guys and your nazi grammar
old
Old City 17 looks pretty awesome
Holy Shit! Half Life was so different. Makes me want to beat it again
Dynamic displacement changes? :raise:
I completely forgot about that frantic combine getting smashed by the trash can.
These videos made me buy HL2. When I bought it, expecting these levels, I was kind of disappointed. They took out so many things. Like, 5 fingered civilian models, headless zombies with green ripped up shirt and pants. I really wanted to try that Dock level and Traptown. Actually, I wanted ALL those levels. Major nostalgia indeed.
You forgot part 3.
OMG nostalgia attack!!! Also i really liked all those levels, they should have included them.
They weren't levels at all, they were designed specifically to show at E3. Everything in them was completely scripted. Download Missing Information, it has conversions of the E3 maps in it. You'll see what I mean.
You forgot part 3.
I THOUGHT it ended oddly.
Dynamic displacement changes? :raise:
Yeah, I've never seen that in action other than on that video :S
Yeah, looks pretty awesome. I wonder why they didn't include it?
Wow old ravenholm looked a little creepier imo. Except there were combine, i don't think the combine would be caught dead there.
I believe it's still possible, the code is still there however the entity is not functional. My guess is that they just cut it because it had no practical use in gameplay.
Hl2 looked so much better especially the wood physics.
I love how people were freaking at the use of physics back then.
Haha, I love how he throws the F and then the U at the strider.
Seems to me like they dumbed everything down
Hl2 looked so much better especially the wood physics.
This is still possible in-game however it requires a lot of resources. It's only been dumbed down because VALVe wanted as many people as possible to be able to run it, not just the úber high enders.
half the stuff in these video were scripted to go one way. So the presenter had to play it certain way. That why there was no Playable demos at thoes E3s.

some of these maps are still in hl2 beta
half the stuff in these video were scripted to go one way. So the presenter had to play it certain way. That why there was no Playable demos at thoes E3s.
The presenter wasn't even playing it, it was a pre-rendered video. Hence the smooth transitions between levels. I really wish they had left that skybox they used in Docks in the game, it's so sexy and I'd love to use that in a map :argh:
Wow old ravenholm looked a little creepier imo. Except there were combine, i don't think the combine would be caught dead there.
Well they would.. If they died :v:
I really wanted to try that ... Traptown.
They didn't cut it out. Chapter six is it.
I remember before it came out and i saw the e3 demonstration and i shat a load in my pants. I got it when it first came out and it was bitchin.
