"In recent weeks, there have been repeated reports and rumors relating to financial problems at Crytek. Having already given an update to staff across all our studios, we are now in a position to share more details with members of the press and public. Internally, we have acknowledged that the flow of information to employees has not been as good as it should have, however we hope you understand that communicating details of our plans publicly has not always been possible. Like the games industry as a whole, Crytek has been in a transitional phase. Our evolution from a development studio to an Online-Publisher has required us to refocus our strategies. These challenges go along with an increased demand for capital which we have secured. We can now concentrate on the long term strategic direction of Crytek and our core competencies. We kindly ask for your understanding, that we won't be communicating further details about our developments and progress. Ultimately, with our organization, capitalization, portfolio and technologies we have now laid the foundations for securing Crytek's future - not just in the short term, but also long term. Through this period of speculation, we are thankful for the support and encouragement we've received from our community and our partners, and for the contribution all of our staff have made. We remain committed to doing what we are best known for and trying to develop the best interactive experiences and technology possible for everyone who loves gaming. We are confident that we will be able to share more positive news on Crytek's progress soon."
http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/07/25/crytek-says-new-source-of-capital-has-secured-its-long-term-future/
True to its word, Crytek did not respond to inquiries regarding the source of the capital.
[t]http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080909093245/harrypotter/images/6/6f/Eagames.gif[/t] ???
Crysis MOBA. :v:
Just make a fucking good timesplitters........it's not fucking hard there's your profit.....just make the damn games people want and have been wanting for fucking 5+ years!
Bill Gate's philanthropy at work, people.
I doubt it's EA. If it was EA I imagine they have a tight leash around Crytek.
I doubt it's EA. If it was EA I imagine they have a tight leash around Crytek.
Ea has been known as of late to tout their engine superiority, having the crytec engine under their belt would make sense, they have been moving towards engines for a while now
Just make a fucking good timesplitters........it's not fucking hard there's your profit.....just make the damn games people want and have been wanting for fucking 5+ years!
Timesplitters would literally only sell to the existing fanbase (who are getting older now, and will probably be a bit more hard pressed to spend money on a new one) or guys who are "like so retro man". I'd love a new TS, but it probably won't be anywhere near profitable enough for them to actually justify it. Plus if Crytek UK aren't in total control it likely will have a lot of bits and pieces nobody asked for.
Just make a fucking good timesplitters........it's not fucking hard there's your profit.....just make the damn games people want and have been wanting for fucking 5+ years!
Getting someone to invest in making a game where the last one in the series was a flop and there doesn't seem to be an audience outside of fans would be extremely hard.
Drug money?

They can just pull a hl2 and make the game solid on it's own. A sequel doesn't have to be designed around the original.
"we have a way we're going to make tons of money in the future, trust us." This is what people who desperately need people to give them money because they have none usually say. We'll see, though.

Could have been the folks at Star Citizen, pretty much talking out my ass here but arn't they pretty invested in the Cry engine?
What I'd love is a port of the Timesplitters games to the PC since I have tons of problems with my PS2 nowadays.
There's Timesplitters: Rewind, it's still making some progress apparently but going very quietly.
Could have been the folks at Star Citizen, pretty much talking out my ass here but arn't they pretty invested in the Cry engine?
From what I've read, their use of CryEngine isn't really a license, it's more of an outright purchase. It's similar to what Ubisoft did with Farcry.
Crysis MOBA. :v:
"Dark souls meets halo"
Could have been the folks at Star Citizen, pretty much talking out my ass here but arn't they pretty invested in the Cry engine?
lol there's no way any single studio could singlehandedly fund crytek
Crytek no longer working on Homefront: The Revolution. Well, seems that would be where they got the money from, at least partially. Couple other articles for it as well: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-07-30-deep-silver-parent-company-buys-homefront-from-crytek http://www.polygon.com/2014/7/30/5951985/deep-silver-homefront-the-revolution-ip-dambuster-studios So yeah, Koch bought Crytek out of the project so Crytek could continue just existing.

Crytek USA has also been scaled back to just customer support for CryEngine, it was previously working on HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age.
