Best 10 bucks I ever spent.
Obviously the topic is about all the games going F2P recently so here's my thought:
I like where this is going, if all games were free and had to rely on stores and constant updating like TF2 to have players and get money, then games would actually have to have effort put into them so that people would actually play them AND keep playing them.
Right now with most games it's pay, play and regret having wasted your money supporting the company that made the shit game to make even more shit games.
It's like Uwe Boll, all his movies are shit but he still has money to make more. How? Because people pay before they realize the movie is shit, all because Uwe does one thing, names his movies after games.
Oh RPS, never die :buddy:
Are they going to offer RPS themed hats now?
I can't figure out why but I find this, even as a joke, is depressing to read.

Just look at this quote.
"Once again Rock, Paper, Shotgun Ltd has proven that it’s ahead of the curve, pushing forward new synergic stratagems for dynamic reader integration,” explained RPS representative, Dave Tosser. “We believe that by moving RPS forward in this free-to-read direction, our web enterprise once again advances the scheme for all interactive users on a broad dynamic scale.”
It's almost completely indistinguishable from everything I've ever heard a company say about a game having microtransactions introduced or going F2P, and at the same time completely indistinguishable from meaningless bullshit.

They hit the style dead on.
Rock, Paper, Shotgun is awesome.
The last time RPS did a satirical article like this, everyone took it seriously and started bawwing. What happened?

Actually, he used to exploit a legal clause that basically made the german government give him money for being an "artist".
They fixed that issue in 2005 though, so I don't know why he's still around.
This is outrageous! I can't believe they would backstab us loyal readers.
I demand a refund!
I gave RPS ad revenue two years ago and now it's free? I want my money back!
wasn't it free to read in the first place?
Guys how do I scroll pages there, I just installed it yesterday.
Free 2 read but not free 2 win!

You have to be a premium user to enable scrolling.
This website is so shit I'm just gonna go back to Kotaku and quick zoom.
What the hell! I paid $15 for premium access the day RPS started all those years ago and now it's free? I want my money back, I clearly was ripped off here and did not get the services that I was promised.
you had to pay to read this site before? HAHAHAHA
