did you read the article
being branded a pedophile and drug dealer on your facebook (which now, employers regularly check) is a terrible thing in all aspects of life. it's basic libel legislation that's been around for centuries. you're not allowed to pull this shit on television, in print, or in real life - why should the internet be any different?
it'd be one thing if it was just "mean trollin" but this isn't, it's legitimate harassment. do you think people will actually be able to sue each other for posting "nigger nigger nigger" on your wall repeatedly? obviously not.

Idk, you tell me, why do you not get offended every time you use the internet?
People need to learn to take words, Over the fucking internet
What makes them different over the internet?
Would you tolerate someone coming up to you in real life and spewing racial, religious, cultural, nationalistic slurs at you? Would you appreciate them calling you with the same thing? Would you appreciate receiving a letter like that?

I sorta did......maybe a little
I kinda went pretty fast reading it so i missed that part
This is proof that the internet is dying.

Yup the one thing keeping us all conveniently connected all over the world is dying.

dw about it bro
i'm of the same opinion if people do a once off and call me a jackass or a dirty name, etc. but harassment online is the same thing as harassment offline, imo. if someone is making a continuous, prolonged effort and will not leave you alone, that's harassment. esp if what they're doing is libellious and liable to actually affect your life.
i'm also glad they're putting in place things that stop people from making false claims, as i almost fell victim to that myself!
Or people could, you know, set their profiles to private and only accept friend requests from people they actually know so this shit doesn't happen.

a fucking stick would have the brain capacity to understand that people are going to say things over the internet that they wouldn't in real life
(its called anonymity)

That doesn't make it okay

On the Internet you can just, well, get off the Internet. And even then, if you want to stay on the Internet, it's so easy to just change your identity, create a new account, start fresh. In real life, it requires drastic changes to your life to be made in order to lose a bad name.
and even then, people need to learn to stand up for themselves and deal with these situations. Avoiding them is only going to make them more vulnerable when an unavoidable problem arises.

No I wouldn't tolerate it, but this is in real life, when I can see the person's face, and when they know I can see their face, and they're actually physically there, some anonymous person insulting you shouldn't affect you considering you don't know them, and you can't see them, and they know that too, which is why they're insulting you.
And it's not like people are forcing them to be here. You can leave the internet, its not so easy in real life.
And before you reply saying it doesn't make the trolls right, no it doesn't, never said it did, but it's fucking stupid to get mad, or try to sue over it.
(Also, my friend pointed out that my first post is contradicting this one, I meant from a legal standpoint, what can they do, sue me?)
how about who gives a shit this is a pointless argument over a pointless subject

It's a forum, we discuss things we find interesting. Plus, you're contradicting yourself, if it's pointless, why comment? Do you care about our lives that much to save us the time?

With the internet being mainstream, you get all kinds of idiots.
