You know what. fuck you guys. First off I never said radar was invented by the US, it was a result of war. Now where the FUCK does it say that. Your are right causalities are never good, but people die, get the fuck over it. But they are dieing for their countries, that is pretty fucking honorable. People say we dont need this big military and security and shit. Well they are dumb as fuck, the reason we dont have issues like iraq and most of the middle east is because of our security.
I hear people saying, we dont need this war, but I say there's something worth fighting for
If we weren't fighting now, you either a wouldnt have gas for your car or be paying $6/gallon. A friend of mine committed suicide, and one of my best friends is in the process of dieing from cancer/ lead poisoning. You know what? Life goes on. And to the re re that says how is the iraq war working for us now? Ill tell you why, because our pussy ass president has basically put a halt , so we arnt expending anything, thus we fucking dont need anything, so you are the moron you faggot. Uh, penicillin was not discovered due to the war.
It is a good thing, but that doesn't mean that it should be declared on stupid reasons, only because it helps the U.S.
The discovery of Penicillin had nothing to do with the wars, but it was mass produced for the war. The people who managed to get pure penicillin couldn't make a lot of it until after the war started and companies rolled out money so it could be mass produced.

and than people (be it innocent or not) get killed and you hear about it every single day in the news, and it doesn't seem like such a good thing anymore.
The ethics, is the one failed consideration in this argument. Read 1984, the philosophy of the political systems of the major powers in the book use this principle to subjugate their people.
What is gained in finances is lost in blood War is never a good thing
ALL made by the USA? Right. Idiotic thread
What he means is that pretty much all of the most important technology has been invented because of and during wars Which is true. But it doesn't mean we should go to war. And yes people get jobs But thousands, millions in some cases, die because of it.
What is gained in finances is lost in blood War is never a good thing
This is the opinion of a person with a heart. So is yours too, but the flesh and blood kind, not the actually a good person kind.
The USA didn't "invent" Radar (it was multiple people with different ideas from different countries), and even then the first patent on the idea appeared in 1904.
Of course war boosts technology progress and the economy, there are always good ways to make profit of even a horrible event. But war is never good, it brings too much death for better technology. Especially nowadays, when a lot of countries have nukes and won't hesitate to use them.
So having a war on huge scale, causing countless deaths(making many children orphans and many women widows), destroying innocent people's homes and only sources of income, not to mention collateral damage; is a good thing because people far away from war have a place to work, and because some technologies acquired in the process of improving weapons can be used in common life? Your logic is perfect.
Employment War helps boost employment because the government buys tanks, humvees, planes, etc, all of which are made in the USA, therefore the companies that manufacture them need to hire more people, thus providing employment opportunity. Economy War helps boost the economy in a few different aspects. The companies that are getting paid to make the weapons, spend money on bigger better equipment and upgrades for their factories, thus putting more companies & people to work. Another way it helps boost the economy is that with all these new employees, they are getting paid, thus leading them to have money. With that money they are spending it on other companies, thus helping circulate money.
i thought the factory workers don't really get any money
Wow, this thread sucks. I agree there are alot of good reasons why war is good, but the good isn't worth the tons of destruction that comes from it. Not to mention Radar wasn't invented by -just- the U.S. and Penicillin was made nearly 20 years before WW2 and had nothing to do with war.
Fuck over the rest of the world for your benefit :D
"War is God's way of teaching Americans geography." Relevant quote
Of course it's good for the USA! They can make everyone democratic! /sarcasm
The Cold War wasn't really a war, any developments in that time were developments that would come with military advancement anyway. Penicillin was discovered by a Scotsman in 1928. Radar had been in development long before WW2 - In Europe. The Microwave was just somebody fiddling with radar components and not even in a real war. How about why war is a bad thing? Employment Depending on the scale of the war (Think WW2) all of the focus is going into the military, plenty of jobs if you like getting blown up or helping people get blown up. Draw all of the jobs away from the usual industries to fuel the war effort, eh? War Work is no subtitute for supplying real jobs - especially considering that the second the war is over everybody is out of the job. Economy War forces the government to put a ton of their money into the military. That means taking money away from areas which might actually be beneficial to the people in peacetime. When the entire economy is centered around supplying for a war then the second it is over, the whole thing comes crashing down. The economies of many countries after WW2, including the USA - were pretty fucked.
