• Nvidia moving into phones
(Reuters) - Nvidia Chief Executive Jen-Hsun Huang said he will license graphics technology to other companies, a new model for the chipmaker that could lead to new business with Apple, Samsung and other mobile device makers. Huang told the Reuters Global Technology Summit in San Francisco on Tuesday that licensing graphics cores and visual patents would help Nvidia take greater advantage of the booming market for smartphones and tablets and tap markets it could not reach through selling its own chips. "The bottom line is the world has changed and we're expanding our business model to serve markets that we historically could not serve by selling chips alone," Huang said.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/06/18/us-summit-nvida-idUSBRE95H1BC20130618 So much for not burning your hand anymore

Does this mean that I need a fan over my nvidia battery?
I wouldn't want to carry a phone in my pocket later, just in case my nuts will catch on fire...
my razr already gets hot as shit in my pocket, I'm sure I'd get second degree burns from something like this :v:

Bad title, nvidia has been into phones for a while now - Tegra 2 was sort of successful and Tegra 3 was very popular.
a new model for the chipmaker that could lead to new business with Apple, Samsung and other mobile device makers.
doubt it
I've always wanted third degree burns on the side of my face!
So much for not burning your hand anymore
There are already lots of high-end smartphones using Nvidia chips. All this means is that other manufacturers will be able to integrate Nvidia technology into their own chips. Title is kind of misleading, made me think Nvidia was gonna start making whole smartphones.
I have a Tegra 3 in my phone and my tablet, this shit gets hot but its worth it. Tegra supported games are gorgeous.
Too bad gaming on a touch screen fucking sucks.
We could send these to Turkish or Brazilian protesters so they won't have to use molotovs.
I just have the strangest feeling we'll be getting $2000 alienware smartphones soon.
