Sup ya'll This is an entry I made for an international design competition which is based here in Australia called 'Positive Posters'. If you win you get heaps of cool prizes and 3500+ posters pasted up around our city of Melbourne, Australia, and some around the world! Background info: Positive Posters was founded in 2009 by graphic designer Nick Hallam. We are an non-profit international poster competition run by a group of volunteers based in Melbourne, Australia. 2010 Brief: I haven’t failed; I’ve had 10,000 ideas that didn’t work
– Benjamin Franklin We think Mr. Franklin had a nice way of looking at things. So the 2010 competition theme is ‘A Glass Half Full’.
For those who don’t know, this saying refers to optimism. Some people see situations with optimism (Franklin – glass half full), and some see situations with pessimism (glass half empty). Optimism is a choice. There is a window bringing colour and a new light into a dull, grey world. It’s a stencil that someone has purposely put there. They have seen the environment and chosen to bring a new perspective into it. It also references Melbourne’s vibrant street art culture. Many times I’ve been in a boring suburban environment and even the smallest piece of artwork has caught my attention and made me smile, laugh or think. Basically I took a photo of a concrete wall near me and did some editing. I then created the window graphic in Illustrator and overlayed it on the final photo. If anyone decides to enter feel free to post your entries here! The deadline is 10th September 2010. its a nice idea, and it doesnt look bad, but some of the cracks in the wall should be more blue because of the "spray paint"
I like the idea, but try some more styles/things behind the window. Try one which is over the top happy go lucky (rainbows and such)
its a nice idea, and it doesnt look bad, but some of the cracks in the wall should be more blue because of the "spray paint"
Depends what was there first, the cracks or the paint. Either way, it's nice and simple. And nice and simple is the in things these days in digital design.
It's quite nice, but the line between what I assume is sky and water doesn't fit in. Spray painted things wouldn't have a solid line like that in an image like this. Good luck in the competition, hope you win.
