• Graphics card getting really warm

I have an NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 card which I've had for about 3 years now, but for the past few days it's been getting really warm. When browsing the internet it is around 70c but after a few hours is as high as 118c - when it gets that high the screen flickers and turns itself off. I don't really play games anymore but I loaded up the Sims 3 and it's running at a really low FPS. I blew all the dust out and the fans are working fine, what else could it be? the room has been around 30c lately because of the heat-wave, could this be it? The room right now is 25.3c and the card is 69c
Is the fan speed automatic? Have you tried manually setting it and seeing what happens? That seems a tad ridiculously hot for such a card (although the 200's were hardly efficient at best). Given the cards age have you not simply considered replacing it?
