Considering the lack of PC version for Red Dead Redemption 1, i think someone needs to pay a massive bribe.
Anyone know if this PS Now thing for PC is any decent? Would love to replay RDR but don't have a ps3 anymore so rip
PS Now is available on PC so you can imagine it
$20 a month for a streaming service that doesn't even allow you to use keyboard and mouse isn't worth it if you're going to be playing console-exclusives on your PC for any extended period of time.
Get yourself:
• HDMI-supported monitor or something you can plug a PS3/360 into and have sitting on your PC desk (or not, this requirement is probably already fulfilled and if it isn't the price is determined by personal preference and the space you have.)
• A PS3/360 (see paragraphs below for pricing calculations):
A 360 requires a shitty $7-10 wired controller (or much more expensive wireless receiver) if you want to play with mouse and keyboard using the method I'm suggesting, it's the lower priced console at $50, but due to backwards compatibility coming to the Xbone its games can be a little bit more expensive (RDR is $7 more on 360 than PS3 at Gamestop, for example). You also don't get multiplayer without a $60 a year subscription of XBL Gold and for every account you have on your 360 that's an additional $60. So say you're one person trying to play RDR and any other games you'll get later when you want to play them: that's $134 if you care about online and $74 if you don't.
A PS3 is $80, but it comes with free online, no controller necessary, and due to lack of backwards compatibility some of its games are cheaper than their 360 counterparts. RDR is $10, the console is $80, so depending on what you want this can either be the cheaper or more expensive option with it coming out to a total of $90
• Whatever other games you want to play, if there aren't any, I don't see any real reason to be considering all this unless you've just got cash to blow and you really want to play RDR with a keyboard and mouse. Let's just pretend, for the sake of example, you bought two other non-RDR games for $20 total
• A Cronusmax Plus ($60)
This totals up to:
A shitty PS Now subscription for one year PLUS the required controller: $300
360 that lasts theoretically forever with Gold that lasts for one year: $214
360 that lasts theoretically forever: $154
PS3 that lasts theoretically forever: $170
TO SET THIS BAD-BOY UP
1.) Run through basic console setup like downloading system updates and shit
2.) Set up your Cronusmax so that your keyboard and mouse pass through your PC into the little usb dongle that should be in your console and map the controls (there's official guides, it's very simple, and this post is long enough as it is. Once you get the software installed and shit plugged in all you need to do is map keys and make sure the mouselook is set up to your liking) For PS3 it's as simple as plugging your PC into your console and making sure you've got it set up in the software. For 360s, you need to plug in the wired 360 controller from earlier so that the 360 authenticates the Cronusmax as a valid controller. Again, look to the official guide and a YouTube vid if you must
3.) Switch your TV or monitor's input to your console, plop the disk in, and control the system using your custom bindings.
I set up a quick, wires-fucking-everywhere-because-it's-late test video with an extremely unfinished, unrefined control rigging for Saints Row 1. I would've used Red Dead Redemption, but you can't exactly stack a monitor on top of a curvy-ass PS3, which is what I own it on, and I didn't feel comfortable leaving it sideways between monitors.

tl;dr PS Now is an overpriced piece of shit service and going through a little effort can improve your experience tenfold (no streaming delay, mouse and keyboard control available), as well as save you money in the long-run
