The producer punched by Jeremy Clarkson is suing the former Top Gear host and the BBC for racial discrimination. Lawyers for Clarkson and the BBC attended a closed-door hearing with Oisin Tymon's legal team at a London employment tribunal on Friday. The case centres on "verbal abuse" that accompanied a physical attack during which Clarkson struck Tymon in March. Clarkson, who was dropped by the BBC following an internal inquiry, will front a new show on Amazon Prime. The inquiry, headed up by Ken MacQuarrie, found Mr Tymon was subject to an "unprovoked physical and verbal attack". Lawyers Slater & Gordon confirmed on Friday that they had been engaged by the producer. A statement by the BBC said: "We will be responding to this claim, but will not be commenting further at this time."
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-34809758 According to another source, this is in regards to Clarkson referring to him as 'a lazy irish ****'
TBH Clarkson was a twat for attacking him so it's pretty deserved. At least he'll still have his show.
Proof that he'd only said he was fine about it at the time to avoid getting dogpiled by the media I suppose.
poor bastard

What a cunt.
Proof that he'd only said he was fine about it at the time to avoid getting dogpiled by the media I suppose.
was going to say, didn't he also say he said something kinda shitty to Clarkson in a drunken stupor.
didn't want to press charges or anything and now he's doing a 180 months later and suing? someones career didn't get the boost they thought it would
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-34809758 According to another source, this is in regards to Clarkson referring to him as 'a lazy irish ****'
I would be mad too if I was called 'a lazy irish asteriks'.

People suck and I am sure Clarkson would be the first person to point them out.
Offensive sure, but not Racist.
didn't want to press charges or anything and now he's doing a 180 months later and suing? someones career didn't get the boost they thought it would
TBH this is probably because the BBC ruined him. He wanted to go back to work regardless of whether he was actually mad at Clarkson, but then because the BBC said "nope" that only made the dumber of top gears fans rage at him harder when it's not his fault at all. Now he's known as "the guy who killed top gear" even though it wasn't his fault at all, it was a combination of BBC being pillocks and Clarkson being self destructive at a rough point in his life. At least that's what it seems like. If your career got unfortunately shit on by a combination of things that really wasn't any of your fault, what can you do other than take things to court?
TBH I bet he is lazy Irish cunt. People suck and I am sure Clarkson would be the first person to point them out.
Yes, because being Irish has anything to do with being lazy.
He punched him in March He said he won't press charges http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-32083181
Quite simply, Mr Tymon just wishes to return now to the job at the BBC he loves, as soon as possible. Further, the BBC have, in his view, taken action with a view to addressing the issues at hand. Mr Tymon agrees with the BBC's stated view that all parties should now be allowed to move on, as far as possible.
Now in November, he states 'I WAN'T TO SUE HIS FUCKING ASS' How typical.
In my opinion it takes more than a single insult from someone to really be discriminated. Does this even have any legal basis in the UK?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-34809758 According to another source, this is in regards to Clarkson referring to him as 'a lazy irish ****'
I fail to see how that is really racist. If he said drunken then maybe but "lazy irish cunt" isn't. It's just the nationality of the person being called lazy and a cunt.
didn't want to press charges or anything and now he's doing a 180 months later and suing? someones career didn't get the boost they thought it would
Lets not look for ways to hate this guy. Of all the cases of people taking legal action we see in SH, this is one of the few that's pretty much justified IMO. As someone said above, he probably waited for the main body of the controversy to die down so he wasn't harassed by the media. [editline]13th November 2015[/editline]
I fail to see how that is really racist. If he said drunken then maybe but "lazy irish cunt" isn't. It's just the nationality of the person being called lazy and a cunt.
It's more xenophobic than racist which is still pretty shitty. Especially given how there's a huge history of smug English people calling the Irish lazy and generally being pretty terrible to them.

Clarkson acts like a cunt, but if you're suing over name calling and not over the actual assault, you need to either grow a pair, or stop scrounging for money. One random drunken insult racial discrimination does not make.
oh no clarkson hurt his feelings wahhh also the irish aren't a race
It's more xenophobic than racist which is still pretty shitty. Especially given how there's a huge history of smug English people calling the Irish lazy and generally being pretty terrible to them.
But it isn't. It's just the nationality of the person. Unless calling someone a "lazy US cunt" is racist because you are recognizing they are from the US. It's this person that's [nationality] that is a lazy cunt. Not It's this [nationality] that this person is are all lazy cunts.
I fail to see how that is really racist. If he said drunken then maybe but "lazy irish cunt" isn't. It's just the nationality of the person being called lazy and a cunt.
you're forgetting the civil war, english domination of ireland and a number of other things.
But it isn't. It's just the nationality of the person. Unless calling someone a "lazy US cunt" is racist because you are recognizing they are from the US. As such A fucking lazy pole is probably seen as far more serious in Europe (particularly in UK) than it would be over in Canada or the US.
you're forgetting the civil war, english domination of ireland and a number of other things.
So saying someone that is Irish, is Irish, is racist?
Imagine saying he's a lazy fucking wanker vs he's a lazy fucking irish. Now imagine if this guy was constantly being selected out of other people because he was irish.
So just because he's Irish it's safe to assume that throughout his whole life he has been constantly discriminated against? I think it's a bit of a stretch to have an argument rest on a suppose that involves supposing his entire life based on a assumption. And having the apparent tipping point being something so mundane.
So saying someone that is Irish, is Irish, is racist? So just because he's Irish it's safe to assume that throughout his whole life he has been constantly discriminated against?
Considering that he lives in England, yeah, it's pretty likely he's gotten at least a little shit for being Irish. There's still an unfortunately large number of people in both England and Ireland who think it's still 1960 and that being from the other country makes you a lesser person.
If he's claiming that there is no significance in calling him Irish, then why call him Irish in the first place? It's like someone saying, "I didn't mean anything malicious with the word black when I called you a stupid black bitch". Why include "black" in there as a non-insult when the other two words are insults? Regardless of whether or not I think Jeremy Clarkson is racist or not, he's really messing up.

Not It's this [nationality] that this person is are all lazy cunts.
unfortunately the people of Clarkson's generation (e.g. 1960-1990) lived through a considerably well-publicized ethno-nationalist conflict with the Irish that you may have heard of, which involved a fair number of human rights abuses and naturally caused some resentment along national lines. so yes xenophobia among the last few generations is not entirely uncommon or unexpected
I fail to see how that is really racist. If he said drunken then maybe but "lazy irish cunt" isn't. It's just the nationality of the person being called lazy and a cunt.
Because that makes it acceptable in the workplace
Because that makes it acceptable in the workplace
This is about legal acceptability, not social acceptability.
Because that makes it acceptable in the workplace
Quit being so thin-skinned. It's a damn insult. Humanity makes those.
