In my Computer\Local Disk(C:) I have a folder called Autoruns. I'm not sure what it does there is no text file in it and I don't want to risk running them. So if anyone knows the origin or purpose of this file please share. I have Vista Ultimate 64 Bit.
Uggh, just keep it ok. Don't touch it. Edit: Wait, a file? Do you mean like .txt or a file? And is it Autorun or Autoruns
If it's a text file open it up and post it here. [editline]09:29PM[/editline] In code tags preferably.
You should post it anyway but I wouldn't worry about that stuff usually. Lots of crap builds up on your C:\\ if you install enough programs.
I said there is NO text files in it and its Autoruns.
Extension please. Is it a .bin, .exe, etc?
He says its a folder Ok so my good man whats IN the folder?
There are 2 files that are .exe. One is named autoruns and one is named autorunsc.
Autoruns is a program to manage your services and startup programs and that kind of crap.
Ok, I knew that programs used .exe programs to start them when you put the disk in or things like that but i thought it might have been a hidden in plain sight virus by the slightly different name.
Looked it up and I have an answer. Autoruns and Autorunsc are both Windows programs used when you start up your system. They are harmless and are not virus programs. They actually help your computer. Don't get rid of them or you'll fuck shit up, and don't start them because they're already running when you start your computer.
