ok here we discuss the classics, Bach, Brahms, Holst, Wagner, Beethoven, all the greatest musicians that ever lived! to start things off, here's one of my favorite pieces of work from Wagner (pronounced Vagner) The ride of the Valkyries.
After studying orchestral music for so long I can appreciate it, but I don't enjoy listening to it. We're going to start studying one of Ralph Vaughan Williams' symphonies this year - we had a bit of a listen and I quite liked it. If I hear Mozart's 41st Symphony one more time I'm going to have to kill somebody.
Wagner is Romantic, not Classical.
I for one, appreciate it, and enjoy listening to it now and then. ok next song is from Gustav Holst's the planets. Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity
Classical elitist right here. Only music genre that is 100% real music, and requires a brain.

An Ode to Joy. Favorite classical ever.
Tchaikovsky's 1812 overture.
One of my favorite's is Dvorak's "Humoresque No.7"
I would listen to it if I knew what to listen to. I've always wanted to incorporate it into my guitar playing.

Once, I watched the sun rise, while in the bitter cold, listening to the 9th. It was incredible. My day just was instantly made a good day.
Yeah man crunk dat Beethoven.
Beethoven Hero, the next guitar hero!
Vivaldi. hands down his violin concerto in E is beautiful strings genius.
Classical just doesnt do it for me, just boring
I find Classical Music very nice and soothing at times. But I wouldnt get a classical album.
<------- Classical Elitist
Leave!
You do realize that that is completely subjective and you look like a complete jackass for stating opinion as fact, right? :banjo:
Leetist vs. leetist. no one wins cause everyone is uptight with music. Please don't bring leetness with classical. It doesn't belong. I like classical but not more than jazz. Jazz is the only other old style of music that requires a brain and notation.
Huh?
Huh?
How is that hard to understand?
Finally a thread with people who have taste in good music.
How is that hard to understand?
No music "requires a brain." And did you seriously say not to bring elitism to classical music? That's all classical music was about when it was around, elitism and high society. And you can't tell me not to be an elitist when you say jazz is the only genre that "requires a brain."
Bach is Baroque not Classical
Air on the G string is just pure SEX. Canon in D, is also pure sex, and Ode to joy, is too, pure sex. I love playing those on the Electric Guitar (I know I will be flamed for bringing electric guitars to this topic)
I think that it is safe to assume that when this thread was created, for the sake of discussion the music in mind was all music that in layman's terms could be described in the overarching genre that is "Classical." I believe that the point was to include all styles, Romantic, Classical, Baroque under the banner of "Classical." In short, although Classical=/=Baroque and Classical=/=Romantic, Romantic=Classical and Baroque=Classical. Feel free to discuss the pros and cons of each, however. By the way, my contribution: Igor Stravinsky's Infernal Dance and Night on Bald Mountain
Man Mozart got that beat all like boom tish boom boom tish boom tish boom boom tish so cash man.
