Aww, I was so hyped to get rid of my stupid tablet for hard cash.

you should try selling it
Surface is vastly superior
Surface is vastly superior
comparable hardware, incomparable software. the only unit anyone should ever buy out of the two is the Pro
I like how 8 of the 12 paragraphs/lines in the article are talking about how the Surface is failing and the offer won't do anything.
200$ for a gently used ipad 2 or newer?
thats a huge rip-off.
200$ for a gently used ipad 2 or newer?

I could sell my pretty well dinged up iPad 3 16GB for $300 at least. trade in offers are a ripoff 90% of the time
[editline]13th September 2013[/editline]
also it should be obvious to everyone how bad RT tablets are when their only advertising is "lol look at how bad the iPad is!"
comparable hardware, incomparable software. the only unit anyone should ever buy out of the two is the Pro
It varies on your usage of it. I have an RT and am satisfied with it (Pro has less battery life, and doesn't come with office).
Obviously, the Windows 8 store has way less apps than the iTunes market, but it has the necessities, save for YouTube, Facebook (coming soon), and Tumblr apps. Twitter could start a bit faster, imo, but it still works.
Of course, if you're a strict, dedicated Chrome/Firefox user, you're shit outta luck on RT.
Surface is vastly superior
no it's not, the tegra 3 chipset is godawful and outdated, the screen res is far lower and there's far far less apps for it
there's literally no reason to buy a surface RT and very little incentive to buy the pro, but at least the pro has backwards compatibility

Proving what you can do is hard when everyone is already stuck in "meh, I already have an iPad." Point out and highlight certain flaws, and people go "...Weeeell, maybe..."
Surface is vastly superior
surface rt? nah.
surface pro? sure. but it's almost twice as expensive

Yeah but Tegra 3 and you're forced to use Microsoft services. The only thing iOS forces you to use is an iTunes account, you can google or bing or whatever the fuck you want, Apple doesn't care.
Also low DPI. And Office is noticeably worse than its desktop counterparts in the performance department on the 3 different RT tabs I ever used.

if your product cannot stand on its own two legs, nobody will buy it. Look at how little and non-aggressive advertising for Android and Kindle tablets is, and those are popular as shit.

id rather use a tablet thats worth a damn and a bit slower and less resolution than an expensive toy tbh
Since they have $900 million worth of surfaces lying around I down't know why they don't just give them away for free at this point.
Microsoft should give up on Windows RT. Intel and AMD are already on the way to catching up to ARM processors in terms of battery life.
Well, looking at the sales of Windows RT tablets, it does not look like there will be much competition soon...
[editline]13th September 2013[/editline]
Competition is good, but it has been a disastrous failure for Microsoft.
Microsoft has launched a US offer of a minimum $200 token in exchange for an Apple iPad

x86 processors are getting this efficient because they are afraid of ARM competition, Competition is good
They didn't say ARM should give up.
Windows RT is a complete failure across the entire spectrum, it has 0 things going for it unless you managed to convince yourself that giving up the features RT takes away is worth it and the awkward form factor can hold it's own against a small laptop.

but it's not, that's the thing. it's got worse hardware in almost every respect and the ipad has a ton of productivity apps for everything. why do you think that ipads are being picked up by tons of schools and businesses while surfaces aren't?

they should bury them in a landfill, that's always a good omen

and windows RT has nothing at all to do with that; it's the threat from iOS and android that's doing it
RT is just a failed experiment
but it's not, that's the thing. it's got worse hardware in almost every respect and the ipad has a ton of productivity apps for everything. why do you think that ipads are being picked up by tons of schools and businesses while surfaces aren't?
And then the businesses and schools sell them off a few months later and buy laptops.
That happened to a few schools and two large companies in my area once the fancy gimmick factor wore off.
Physical keyboards and fairly priced products still reign supreme when it comes to content creating instead of content consuming.

Apple offers deals if x school accepts their shit.

You should stop now

well yes, exactly
but if they're not going to use the ipad, which is best suited to those applications because of it's huge suite of apps, why would they buy something that has a tiny percentage of the apps that the ipad has?

apple offers educational discounts yeah - one of the many many reasons why ipads are more attractive to buyers than surfaces
and tbh I could actually see them burying them in a landfill - legitimately no one wants a surface RT, it's a failure
WinRT is a huge let down and disappointment, there's not that much ground for it or the apps there for you to buy it. The Pro is the only one worth recommending but it's got a huge pricetag and basically is just a laptop.
I don't see the point in 10" tablets anymore ever since I got a nexus 7 and my mum got an iPad mini, they are literally the perfect size to do just about everything

Physical keyboard, Desktop OS programs with no good "tablety" alternative.
Owning a Windows RT isn't bad. I still prefer it over my other tablets. Feels nicely built and strong. Whereas my ipad mini feels like it would break in 2 if i dropped it.
