I don't really care about the game too much because it will be PS4 only but
The game runs very smoothly at 30 frames per second, with nary any loss in visual quality at all.
30FPS on PC would be a total dealbreaker.
I really hope this isn't locked to 30fps on pc.
I really hope this isn't locked to 30fps on pc.
PS4 exclusive. although this is less of a game and more of 'look how good graphics we have in lower resolution and 30 fps!!!'
I really hope this isn't locked to 30fps on pc.
It won't [sp]cause it'll be PS4-exclusive.[/sp] [editline]a[/editline] Well fine man be like that and ninja me.
I don't really care about the game too much because it will be PS4 only but 30FPS on PC would be a total dealbreaker.
in general people generalize fps as 30 being playable and anything above 40 to be good, but if the transitions between the frames are good so you don't notice any stuttering then 30 fps can be perfectly fine, in a 25 fps movie you don't see stuttering (if it's been produced well) it just doesn't look like real life
A SILKY SMOOTH 30 FRAMES PER SECOND
oh it's that game where 30 fps is part of the ~feel~ lmao
in general people generalize fps as 30 being playable and anything above 40 to be good, but if the transitions between the frames are good so you don't notice any stuttering then 30 fps can be perfectly fine, in a 25 fps movie you don't see stuttering (if it's been produced well) it just doesn't look like real life
Movies have motion blur, their frames blend into each other. Take a screenshot of a movie, it will look blurry. Take a screenshot of a game and every frame is perfectly sharp. The is a difference between movies and games, a real camera works differently to a game camera. 30FPS in an intractable medium like games just isn't smooth and shouldn't be seen as "cinematic" or acceptable. Even 30FPS without any stuttering or drops is not smooth.
isnt this that game where the developer justified that getting <=30fps by saying framerate drops make the game look more "cinematic"
oh my god it's so filmic
They also cut off the top and bottom of the screen to make it more like a movie, so yeah.
I'd rather it be a smooth 30 then it dip below 60 constantly, like Killzone, i had to lock that to 30 fps in singleplayer
yeah idk I really like totalbiscuit for example and of course more fps is better but I don't see the rage over 30 locked games because its absolutely okay to me
yeah idk I really like totalbiscuit for example and of course more fps is better but I don't see the rage over 30 locked games because its absolutely okay to me
I don't mind 30 fps as long as it actually runs on a solid 30 frames. That said a higher framerate is always better, especially for shooters and multiplayer games. Also if they lock this at 30 fps on pc which I don't believe, they will fuck themselves over so royally.
Why does everyone keep talking like it's coming out on pc at some point? It's not, it's a Sony first party game and will stay on PS4.
Reminds me of Fear 2 Project Origin. It also had this weird "film-like"grainy look, but imo, it looked nice, and I don't think it ran bad.

Locking a game at a low framerate if you can get higher on console is fucking dumb, on PC it's completely unacceptable. I still don't mind 30fps though. But this is coming from someone that spent a year plus playing WoW on a toaster that would barely get 30fps at the best of times.
Post-processing the game.
oh it's that game where 30 fps is part of the ~feel~ lmao
No it's not. It's a compromise to get better visuals. It's completely normal in consoles and will be for the foreseeable future. Oh and it's also not a problem unless you're a snob. Seriously. I play with a 120Hz monitor on my computer, and I've got no problems playing 30fps games on my console.

The Cutscene 1886
Problem is all that effort to up the visuals and the game looks bleak as shit anyways, a large part of the visuals of a game is the setting and lighting and mood and it's been wasted on some gritty dark street where you can't even see any of the fancy graphics because it's so dark and dull.
It's completely normal in consoles and will be for the foreseeable future.
common practice doesn't mean it's a good thing
Oh and it's also not a problem unless you're a snob. Seriously. Don't get the hype on this game. It looks terrible. And Playstation is now joining with Xbox to make more disappointing graphical choices.
No, one of the devs for this game actually said that they were aiming for 30 FPS to get a ~cinematic feel~.
And that one dev is bullshitting most likely. They're just trying to justify their action by simplifying the explanation for the common folk. Also Sony doesn't want people to hear "Well the PS4 isn't strong enough to run it at 60 with those visuals". So, in the end they use the movie argument I suppose. People believe it due to The Hobbit probably.
Interested despite technical shortcomings. I just hope the writing is good.
