• US government declares hacking an act of war, then hacks allies
Revelations from European leaders on Monday that the National Security Agency bugged European Union offices in Washington and hacked into its computer network bring to light hypocrisy on the part of the U.S. government. In 2011, the Pentagon released its first formal cyber strategy, which called computer hacking from other nations an "act of war," according to the Wall Street Journal. In late June of this year, WSJ reported that Edward Snowden, the NSA whistleblower, released information alleging the U.S. government was hacking Chinese targets "that include the nation's mobile-phone companies and one of the country's most prestigious universities." Now that EU offices have been hacked by the U.S. government as well, one must wonder if that was an "act of war" on the part of the United States. Title not "U.S. Military invades Europe"? Oh, how SH has fallen...
"But the terrorists! But freedum!"
God damn Americans with their friendly fire.. I am also disappointed by the fact the title isn't about the US invading Europe.
What's with the US gov these days?
What's with the US gov these days?
We're too dumb to get off our asses and protest
We're too dumb to get off our asses and protest
But if that post gets enough likes they said they would stop it =(
We're too dumb to get off our asses and protest
Way to not help fix anything by propagating a pessimistic attitude.
Purposefully misleading article, the Pentagon was very clear that not every hack on America would lead to retaliation. The 30 page paper they put out said that only very serious cyber attacks would be acts of war, for example shutting down the whole power grid. And we would only retaliate if we had indisputable evidence on the guilty party.
We're too dumb to get off our asses and protest
Someone wasn't in Chicago yesterday (I didn't take this picture, but I was in Daley Plaza later on in the day.)
'Do as I say, not as I do' But to be fair we sort of are already in a cyber-war with China, they're definitely attacking us far more than we're attacking them.
They mean hacking the US is an act of war; the US hacking other nations? Totally justified!
America is the exception DUHHHHH
they're definitely attacking us far more than we're attacking them.
Exactly something a person misled by the government would say. " Oh, but they're WORSE! The other guys are worse! " Anyways, there's no evidence to suggest which side hacks the other more, and frankly due to the United States' technological superiority I'm pretty sure they've hacked the shit out of just about everybody, whether they know it or not.
Godammit, stop rubbing it in my face. I meant to go to that one specifically but I had no idea it was happening yesterday. Will there be any more?
Godammit, stop rubbing it in my face. I meant to go to that one specifically but I had no idea it was happening yesterday. Will there be any more?
Nope, I'm afraid America is all done protesting. We just feel like everything that needed to be said has been said. Sorry! Better luck next time (figuratively speaking, because that was the last one).
Exactly something a person misled by the government would say.
Or what someone following the news would say. Do I need to point out how many attacks on Western systems have been traced back to the Chinese? How about the F-35 leak, or the Gmail hacking to get info about protesters in China? It's not like we're just picking on poor ol' China to hypocritically hack for no reason.
Way to not help fix anything by propagating a pessimistic attitude.
People will never protest en masse unless it directly impacts their daily lives.
It's like NSA and other special services were actively trying to sink US international relations. Seriously, everything is coming out on surface, all the stuff US services have done in the past like 10 years and more.
'We don't count guys'
I really dislike my country.
There are always those who aren't aware of what's happening simply because it doesn't show up on the news and/or they don't have a internet connection. I'm sure if more were aware, they'd be along side the protestors. There's also large portion of people who are downright apathetic about it or are unable to attend due to their location, but I think even then their message still balls up into that massive disapproval of what they're doing. What I'm wondering is why our Government is doing this if we ourselves are saying 'maybe we shouldn't be doing this? can this stop sometime soon?'.
What I'm wondering is why our Government is doing this if we ourselves are saying 'maybe we shouldn't be doing this? can this stop sometime soon?'.
Because you and FP and me are really only very small cross-sections of society at large.
What's with the US gov these days?
This shit isn't new. They've tested chemical weapons on Canadians and committed multiple genocides.
'Do as I say, not as I do' But to be fair we sort of are already in a cyber-war with China, they're definitely attacking us far more than we're attacking them.
I hope what you said in quotes was meant sarcastically Either way, you're way off. You can't justify one wrong with another, and we hacked more than just China anyway.
In related news: Bush and Obama have International Arrest Warrants for War-Crimes. ...Nvm, everything is false in this video due to it being RT. Surely.
