I've been messing around with my Bose 3-2-1 GS Series II recently, and I'm curious to what you guys consider to be my best option for audio.
These are the inputs on the back on my TV:

My current setup:

The audio is sourcing from my Xbox One to the TV through HDMI. It's then going out through that red/white component cable that's using an adapter.
Here's the back of the Bose receiver:

How the red/white component cables are going in:

Is there a better way to have this set up? Should I just use an optical audio cable from the Xbox One to the Bose receiver? Is there compression happening with that jack adapter?

Usually its better to run audio through its own cable, its difference depends on the quality of cable and of internal components placement.

It is not as much of compression as it is distortion/added noise. Depending on the quality of the adapter/cables/audio source/other things, the change in sound may only be noticeable at high volumes/acute ears.
Probably the best bet is to use an optical audio cable from the Xbox One to the Bose receiver. It will stop the audio from passing through your television (helps eliminate any noise from the internal components) and any noise from the analogue cables or adapter. Generally the best option is the one that involves the least amount of travel for the audio to go through.

Just realized I repeated myself all throughout that post. Sorry about that.
