Very stupid question I know, but I have two HDDs. One has the OS on it and the other has most of my data (like games, pictures, music). I have been noticing my computer has been freezing up lately and I figured it was due to not defraging the hard drive in a while. I have had my second hard drive for about a year now and I have yet to defrag.
Would it be a good idea to do so?
Depends how fragmented it is. I wouldn't use the defragmentation tool built into Windows, it's a bit shit. Use defraggler http://www.filehippo.com/download_defraggler/download/d2ea4aecf0904774e4b6d9d527d27190/
When you analyze the hard drive it will tell you the percentage of how fragmented it is
since it is where your data is going, it has more of a chance to get fragmented. I agree, use the link above and Defraggler it.
