Title is pretty descriptive. I've had 3 files that I know of them disappear. One was a word doc, one a powerpoint, the other an application. Any ideas?
redownload them?
Try saving a document of the same type to check the save location?
Try an undelete program like Recuva (http://www.piriform.com/recuva) and see if you can restore the file.

Well that's not really going to be very useful if I've got a faulty HDD.
Did you, by any chance, disconnect the HDD without "ejecting" it in the Windows UI?

it doesnt sound defective, it sounds like you:
1:unplugged HDD before it was finished writing
2:were using a "cleanup" program that deleted it
3:you deleted it and don't remember
4:made the files hidden
5:moved them to a different location
most of these can be eliminated if you just turn on "view hidden files" and do a simple search of the hdd for the files.

Yeah, re-download your word documents and powerpoint presentations. That sounds like an excellent idea.

I'm going to copy everything off, format, and then put it all back on.
