It's a laptop. Uses:
Internet browsing
Music playing on trips
Torrent downloading
Occasionally Gmod server, but I could easily set up my main computer for that.
From what I've heard, Linux is faster and more minimalistic. Should I switch over for my laptop?
Linux can do those things.

Those were kind of the reasons I was considering it.
It [i]can[/i] be faster, but that depends very much on the distro and the way things are set up.
If you get a nice, lightweight distro you might notice a difference.
If I were you I'd install linux on it just to try it out, it is free after all.
I would have blown any partitions away and installed Linux on it first thing upon receiving it.
