a few years back, my father got me the valve complete pack as well as gmod. just recently, he got a computer and wants to play online with me and other people. does he really have to spend another $110 just to play multilayer. or is there a same household multiple download thing?
Nope, he'll have to re-buy it all.
One of you can play a single player game in offline mode while the other plays in multiplayer, but you cannot both play multiplayer.

What made you think such service would exist for Steam?
If it's for the individual games, left4dead 1+2 have multiplayer splitscreen and i'm sure google could help you find the rest...
As for Gmod I don't think there is anything for that.
But as others have said to play on different computers together you both need the games (or so I think.)
EDIT:
I just read "play online" sorry I don't think it can be done, or everyone on here would all be sharing their games and VALVe wouldn't be making much money.
lucky! i wish my dad would give me the valve complete pack.
he doesn't necessarily have to buy the $110 valve complete pack. he could just buy the games he wants to play. im sure this was obvious though
Fun fact: Go on steam click in the search bar and write 'Half-life 2: Lost coast' It's £52:99 ! (relevant as it's a glitch about the valve: complete pack)
it depends what he wants to play.
-snip-
he just needs to buy GMod and a source game to play. IE: TF2 + GMod or CSS + GMod
Steam?
You dad plays GMOD? He sounds cool.

Steam is a system that allows for you having the games in multiple places, but only one person at a time can play them. Sharing CD Keys or accounts can result in account termination or having your account disabled.
If you would like more than one person to use the Steam Account, you will have to register another Steam Account for that individual and have them purchase the games.
Just tell him to buy the games he wants.
will lan mod work? me and him i mean

Man what a cool guy
Don't think so

The last part isn't true. It only applies if you're doing something that involves buying pre-owned accounts off e-bay or something else like that which exploits the system and results in money being made. You're not going to get banned if your father/sibling uses it or anything.

You can play LAN with the other person who's using your account on offline mode, I think.

$99.99
Odd that Lost Coast doesn't list the Orange Box as a purchase method on it's page.
Odd that Lost Coast isn't listed in the Orange Box pack either.
I got Lost Coast when I got the Orange Box back in 2008 (same time I joined Steam)
Plus weren't they making that free a while ago?
Only one instance of a Steam account can run at the time, but the games can exist on multiple computers (up to five?). So if you want to play against each other, you need to create a new account and repurchase the games.
No you can't
Yeah exactly, I think it has something to do with steam tickets, id, and authentication

Actually, you can store games on infinite amounts of computers. Since games are either a bunch of files or packed in gcfs(if valve games)
You dad plays GMOD? He sounds cool.
i guess that ruins me and him playing. its ok, he will just get his paycheck and buy it lol. it would of been cool to save $110 though. yes he plays gmod and is better than me. but then again, he's not. idk. lol

My dad bought the games I have on steam two times, once for me and once for my brother, but both had to buy some games ourselves
It'd suck if you were a pre-pube with me trolling you in game over mic, then your father just starts yelling at me.
I'd cry.
Wish my parents could play video games with me
Lucky, I wish I could play TF2 with my dad.
Oh God what if you accidentally stumbled into some server where people are spraying all kinds of inappropriate sprays everywhere on the walls and all of a sudden your dad comes online and joins the same server you're in and shits a house when he sees what's going on.

My dad plays Gmod... He uses it for NPC wars in gm_bigcity
