For a while now I've been saving up the money for a new graphics card on my business PC, I used to use it for typical gaming with a Radeon 6450, but I have looked into buying more up-to-date games, like Battlefield 3 and Crysis 3. However the card needs to use only one PCI slot altogether, I can't get a card that uses one and takes the space of another also. I'm not looking for the latest, best card that can run the most radical anti-aliasing and anisotropic bullshit, but something that can run any game as of now without hesitation. After looking online a while Im thinking to get something high-end from the Radeon 5000 series, but what do you guys think? space/cooling is not an issue (very large case/2 case fans), and I don't care about noise. The card doesn't need to be recently marketed or anything.
Here are my system specs if you need them for whatever reason, to let you know that the other components will never be an issue.
Intel i7 @ 3 ghz
8gb RAM
Plenty of HDD space
64 bit Windows 7
Brand: Gateway, mostly with Asus components.
Do you mean one expansion slot on the back of the case? If so, the best you'll probably be able to get would be a 7750 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121633

Kinda hard to put it into words, I mean use a single PCI layer. But yeah, that card would be great, thanks for the help. However, looking at the reviews online they say it is an 'upgrade' for 2d multitasking and lightweight gaming, I think it's just comparing to the 300$ cards though,
Do you mean using one of these

Or using one of the red things

Sorry for the wait, I mean the above picture. I remember installing my 6450.
Then yeah, 7750 is the fastest single slot card out from what I can tell
