i wonder if he would have made it some day
American man is the new Florida man
He should've remembered his sunscreen

I wonder what made him think this would go well
If you're going to go from England to Ireland in a boat, why not somewhere in Cornwall instead of Dorset?
[QUOTE=deggemannen;41509401]what an idiot[/QUOTE] Yeah, when I saw the headline I assumed he had tried to go from Stranraer to somewhere near Bangor, which would've been about 20-30 miles instead of a few hundred, but nope :v:
He didn't even take a working VHF marine radio with him... That's basic sailing, man. Y'know, incase you find yourself with inadequate supplies, or stuck 2.7nm from where you set off...
See, he was American, so he assumed that you went on the right side of the current, but in the UK, as you can see by the rescue map, he went on the left side of the current.
Man, I thought you Americans could withstand the British heat [sub][sub][sub]~its a joke~[/sub][/sub][/sub]
Sounds like a fun little outing if you actually thought about it before sailing the Atlantic in what was essentially an intertube.
[QUOTE=Crumpet;41509541]Man, I thought you Americans could withstand the British heat [sub][sub][sub]~its a joke~[/sub][/sub][/sub][/QUOTE] My grandma almost died this morning from heatstroke, but that's because she's retarded and didn't drink any water, or even have a fan on.
I guess to make such a decision he'd have been... Out in the sun a bit long.
For some reason I read "Dorset" as "Detroit" and got extremely confused.
[QUOTE=SGTNAPALM;41510611]For some reason I read "Dorset" as "Detroit" and got extremely confused.[/QUOTE] "American man attempts to sail from Detroit to Ireland in inflatable boat, picked up by coast guard 12 hours and five miles later, treated for severe sunburn" I don't see how you could get confused if you misread it, because what you misread it as is just another sane man trying to get out of detroit as fast as he can
Why didn't he get an outboard motor and do it right? I've driven a dingy from Huntington Beach to Avalon (on catalina island) and that's about 20 miles right there (maybe more with wind and current and not going so straight)
Would of had better luck going to France.
could've been possible from Dyfed or something
What a loser. [media]http://vimeo.com/39863198[/media]
I'm pretty sure just drifting in the current will cover more than 5 miles in 12 hours. The fuck what this guy doing?
[QUOTE=Used Car Salesman;41515394]I'm pretty sure just drifting in the current will cover more than 5 miles in 12 hours. The fuck what this guy doing?[/QUOTE] you get stuck in the currents.
