Sucks that we won't see it for another 10 years when Apple discovers it

The article states products featuring it are expected to come out next year.
Also, why does the article say it's 1000x faster then proceed to say it's still not quite as fast as RAM? Are they strictly talking about access time (as opposed to bandwidth)?

It's supposed to be 1000x faster than flash memory, ram isn't flash memory.

Ram, especially Static ram, is EXTREMELY fast compared to flash memory technologies.
I fucking love technology, we need more and cheaper :joy:

Whoops, the wording of the article threw me off. Thanks.
By the way, if anybody wants some hard numbers and an idea on how the new technology works, Intel has a media kit here http://newsroom.intel.com/docs/DOC-6713
Due to this invention, shares of both Intel and Micron raised higher on tuesday.

I bet China is your favorite country.
The article doesn't mention it but I'm fairly certain these are memristor elements. Finally.
From the looks of it it can probably be made denser than flash too
