TV action stars are getting The Expendables treatment as Sylvester Stallone’s hit feature franchise is heading to television. Fox is developing The Expendables, an event series based on the movies, with the franchise’s writer and star Stallone executive producing alongside the films’ producer Avi Lerner and NCIS veteran Shane Brennan who serves as showrunner.
Writing/executive producing the TV adaptation are feature writing duo Greg Coolidge (Ride Along) & Kirk Ward and Brennan. It is described as a fun action drama that unites iconic TV stars as a new team of highly-skilled heroes who are on a mission to stop a dangerous terrorist. The project hails from Lionsgate TV, whose feature sibling distributes The Expendables movies, CBS TV Studios, where Brennan is under an overall deal, and CBSTV-based Shane Brennan Prods. Also executive producing the potential event series, for which Fox has ordered a script, are Kevin King, long-time executive at Stallone’s Rogue Marble production company, and Shane Brennan Prods.’ Grant Anderson.
A franchise that consists entirely of star attraction and big-budget SFX bullcrap isn't something I see transitioning to basic cable well.

Maybe if they don't spend 90% of the budget on all the actors, the special effects won't look like something out of a 90s bad straight-to-DVD movie.
are they not aware of the increasingly horrid ratings for every iteration of the movie?
Do they want to fail?
Do they even know any better? Oh, I can answer that one. It's FOX so they don't.
Ugh, really? I hate those movies, I don't know anyone who likes them.
I liked the Expendables movies because they were mindless dumb movies. Perfect for watching with a few friends or something
Put in Michael Biehn, Reb Brown, Kurt Russell, and Bruce Campbell and I might consider watching it.

Yeah, if you're all laughing and making fun of the horrible effects.

Sometimes those are the best movies. Even terrible movies can have some entertainment value, like Stan Lee's "Harpies", a SciFi original movie. Funniest god-damn thing I've ever watched.
Fox are developing an expendable TV series
What's the reasoning behind this? The entire point of the expendables was to get all the huge action stars together for a big goofy action film but I seriously doubt they could afford them for a TV series and without them it's nothing to do with the expendables
you can see the headlines, 'expendables is expendable, get's canned after only 1 episode'
It's like the new A-Team... only it's more of a (D-minus)-Team
They'd have better luck with a reboot of The A-team
Who are TV's action stars?
The guy who plays Jack Bower?
I like the Expendables movies but no thanks Fox.
Didn't the expendables 2 actually get some pretty good reviews?

I'd totally be down for this

I could legit see that on a TV budget.
So if it's good, we'll get one season. If it's bad, we'll get 12.
I was disappointed by The Expendables. It was supposed to be a throwback to 80s action but the action wasn't good. Machete had the action it should have had

I wouldn't call it big budget. In fact, I'd call it damn near refreshingly spare.

He's busy going nuclear
does anybody want this

maybe the plot wouldn't have been shit as well
I only watched the first, but it wasn't even entertaining as a big blockbuster full of action heroes. It was just bad.
What are they going for here? A modern day A-team? I don't think it would have the budget to be any good.
I just want my prison break reboot

what would be the point
pb went downhill after the first season anyway
