We know there’s going to be paid DLC… It’s one of the things that we looked at because if people like the game and want to purchase extra things I don’t mind that. But microtransactions, as it’s defined, we do not have them. You cannot spend a little bit of money and fast-track to get better gear or pay to win or vanity items. We do not have that. The short answer is no, we don’t have microtransactions, period. We will have DLC. We don’t have it yet because we’re just barely finishing the game. I just don’t want anyone to say that when we announce the DLC, “you said [no microtransactions]”.
Cool beans, sounds kind of promising. Not too much tho cause this is Ubisoft.
There probably will be at some point to be quite honest
Actions over words, until then take those words with a grain of salt.
Its a pretty interesting game to be honest However the DZ needs to be tweaked and cheating needs to be dealt with otherwise it will be squandered.
they're going to be just like overkill. i know it.
they're going to be just like overkill. i know it.
wasn't overkill as much as it was mostly starbreeze. also, it's also the fault of the people, because many of those same people who protested it ended up spending money on it. like the mw2/l4d2 protest charade.
Destiny-like game does Destiny-like thing..... Like Destiny we'll just have to see. Disclaimer: I liked Destiny a lot.
this shouldnt be a selling point
this shouldnt be a selling point
what, no microtransactions? why?
what, no microtransactions? why?
That'd imply having microtransations is the standard, and they are deviating from the rule by not having them and that's a bad thing
That'd imply having microtransations is the standard, and they are deviating from the rule by not having them and that's a bad thing
I think it's more that they're trying to stray with the negative connotations perceived when Ubisoft is mentioned as well as games such like Division.
Didn't they confirm vanity items earlier?
Didn't they confirm vanity items earlier?
theres a entire appearance system in the game where you can change your clothes. clothes have no stats and theres currently no way to buy clothes for $$$
It's a Ubisoft game, the real question is whether or not it's going to be riddled with bugs on release.
Its more the "we’re just barely finishing the game" that gets me. Now its not out yet so i cant speculate on the amount of content that will be in the base game but it could end up like destiny where its half finished and you need the season pass/dlc to get the full experience. With games being so expensive as it is, throwing another 60$ on for a season pass for content that maybe should already be there is just stupid.

There will be 3 Main paid DLC packs. season pass will net you everything. http://metro.co.uk/2016/01/29/the-division-will-have-three-dlc-expansions-and-lots-of-freebies-5651072/
It's a Ubisoft game, the real question is whether or not it's going to be riddled with bugs on release.
Judging by the beta, its guaranteed to have quite a few issues at launch, i just recently cancelled my pre-order.
the beta build is from december i heard, so alot of stuff that is easy to fix is probably fixed by now.
I just got accepted into the beta for this, still waiting on the website to let me load it. I hope it does not go down the same path of bf4 or be riddled by microtransactions.
Didn't they confirm vanity items earlier?
there are exclusive cosmetics that you get when you pre-order the game.
I just got accepted into the beta for this, still waiting on the website to let me load it. I hope it does not go down the same path of bf4 or be riddled by microtransactions.
going the path of bf4 wouldn't be that bad, bf4 is really good now
going the path of bf4 wouldn't be that bad, bf4 is really good now
I mostly mean like the fact that I only have bf4 original and a lot of times I cant play because I need this dlc here and there. The game is good though.
Massive has also stated the first content update outside of the season pass will be free. If that, the cheating crackdown, increasing the NPC count, and the microtransactions thing are true I'll be a little more inclined to believe them. I like the game and I've been playing the beta a lot, but it seems like they've been shotgunning dozens of promises for press lately.
They could just cut out pieces of the game and make them DLC. Come on, Ubisoft, you know how it's done
They could just cut out pieces of the game and make them DLC. Come on, Ubisoft, you know how it's done
I thought it was heavily centered around online play? If so, to have day 0 DLC would leave an awful taste in players mouths if their friends had DLC they themselves didn't and forced them to separate to use the DLC. In this kind of environment cosmetic or even play-affecting micro-transactions are more powerful because they can show them off to their friends without being segregated by a pay-wall, and then envy drives sales from there. Though I'm pretty certain you were being facetious.
