It's been awhile since I've posted anything on here for critism so here's a painting of an apple i did in 30 min for you to make fun of. Critism is as always very welcome.
It's nice. The green looks a little funny though. Usually it'd only be found on one side of the apple. And in blotches. But other than that, nice work.
Looks flat to be honest, the color tones only get darker near the bottom, but not near the back, opposite from the light source, so it appears flat, not round. Also you need to blend your brush strokes better, I can see each individual stroke, and it does not create what I find to be a "realistic" apple. Overall it's nice, but needs improvement, keep trying!! :) Edit- also the green stays the exact same color in the light and dark, part of the reason it look's flat.
Actually the darkest point is to the far right, I just usually overdo my shading so I tried to keep the contrast low in this one. You're right on the green parts though.
The colors do not blend =/ and what's with the red shadow? Anyway, you did a great job, some more practicing and you'll be able to draw lots of a realistic apples :buddy:
Looked dull with just a white background.
Looks awesome,
Have you read the thread on Conceptart.org about drawing apples? I imagine it's what inspired you. [editline]10:25PM[/editline] http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=107217
No I have not.
Read it man, shit is so good.
There's like 1k posts, I'll just read the intro
Very good painting, but why is the shadow red?
Because shadows are not black, shadows take on the dominant color in an environment, and seeing as the apple is the only thing in there, shadows should be a dark red, not that red, should be more gray scaled, but he is correct technically. Another example, outside on a sunny, blue sky day, shadows take on a slight (note the word SLIGHT) blue hue.
That's bull.
That's bull.
I think he means its so slight you can't even really tell.
truly amazing, apples are one of the hardest things to draw in the world.
truly amazing, apples are one of the hardest things to draw in the world.
nice name
That's bull.
Ok, here, the subject will be the human face, the painting will be a portrait of a human as realistic as possible with proper forms of volume, composition, lighting, and shadows. The painting will be due at the end of the week. So let's see who knows what, and who is right here. Edit: So in simple words, out paint me and prove me wrong or shut the fuck up. :) kay?
Very good painting, but why is the shadow red?
Because that's how light works, It shouldn't be that bright however, I just made it that way for it to look nicer, and because I don't like gray tones.
