I'm going to upgrade my girlfriends graphics card from X1950 and I need some suggestions which card I should choose. Only problem is that the motherboard supports only AGP cards. She plays The Sims 2 only. The CPU is AMD 3200+ and I think there is 1Gb or 1,5Gb Ram.
The X1950 should be okay, I remember playing L4D on that card. Though you could get a Radeon HD 4650: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102851
Don't even bother.
x1950 is great for an AGP card, if her PC isn't performing well it's more likely to be her CPU. What's the budget? If you reused everything else, you could probably get a new motherboard, CPU, and RAM for a bit, using the onboard GPU.
I have the HD4650 1GB AGP. I run it at 4x but it still is pretty great for this ancient system.
However, it sucks that ATI gave up on the drivers. AGP is no longer supported.
