https://picroma.com/blog/post/10
I'm currently reworking some aspects of Cube World to improve the game experience. I'm planning to include them in the next update, but I still need some time to test them. Here is an overview: - Maximum power is now scaled to 20 (from 100). Effectively, your strength won't be affected, just the numbers are scaled and items are available for a wider level range. - Each land now has a power level which determines the average power of creatures and dungeons. That way, players can choose difficulty by themselves. - The size of lands has been decreased. The average size is now 20x20 tiles (was 64x64). This enables players to explore new lands more quickly and also results in closer cities. - Naming and coloring of creatures and dungeons is now analog to items: For example, a blue "Undead +18" means that he has power level 18 and is likely to drop +18 items of blue quality. In contrast to before, players can now precisely see the power of creatures. - Dungeon missions aren't generated daily anymore and aren't adapted to the player level. Instead, players can see on the map if a dungeon has been cleared or not (indicated by a skull icon). A dungeon is cleared by defeating the boss and will remain empty for a couple of days. - I'm working on underworld caverns: The idea is to have a network of caverns below the overworld with secret entrances at the surface. The underworld will be inhabited by various monsters of varying power and will add another exploration factor to the game. Currently I'm experimenting with nice-looking entrances (it's tricky to get them right). Besides that I'm working on a better forum/comments solution, but currently the next update has priority.
[t]https://s3.amazonaws.com/picroma/images/screenshots/power/04.jpg[/t][t]https://s3.amazonaws.com/picroma/images/screenshots/power/05.jpg[/t][t]https://s3.amazonaws.com/picroma/images/screenshots/power/03.jpg[/t]
Where was he hiding for 4 months?
Where was he hiding for 4 months?
Working quietly and recovering from the rough launch. During an interview he said the DDoS attacks were very discouraging.
what's the difference between halley's comet and wollay's updates? i'm not sure
what's the difference between halley's comet and wollay's updates? i'm not sure
One happens once or twice a lifetime. The other is a comet.
Still have hopes for this. I have to.
Working quietly and recovering from the rough launch. During an interview he said the DDoS attacks were very discouraging.
I get why he would be, but it still pisses me off because the rough launch was his own damn fault. He avoids the completely obvious solutions to fix the problem for weeks, and then just disappears until people don't care enough to spam his website.
Imagine a frail geeky kid at school preparing an awesome science project to impress his whole class with and this will finally help him come out of his shell. He's so excited about it, he's ready to seize the day. And then the next day he gets there, some big bully kid pushes him down into the mud and ruins everything. That is how Wollay feels about his project and DDoS.

What happened anyway? Did people lose money or something?
Website down on the launch time and a massive spam influx.
Why'd the site go down and spam? Did someone hack him and send out spam to everyone?
Perhaps he'll fix the bug with the cursor that causes it to crash Intel integrated video cards. (No, not the crappy old ones. The 4000 one which is actually really nice.). I'm not trying to sound mean here but eh... The cursor alone causes the game to crash on launch. Literally. Deleting the file for the cursor makes it launch. I can't even fathom how that's even humanly possible.
What happened anyway? Did people lose money or something?
Wollay turned down Humble Bundle and Chucklefish's (Starbound team) offers to host servers for Cube World's download. The servers took a lot a beating from the constant stream of people trying to buy and play the game. On top of that, his servers were being DDoS'd for days. After all of this, Wollay was quiet for about 3 and half months.

All that when the solutions to his problems were completely obvious. Then just disappears to put the icing on the cake of course. Eventually you have to pass a point where sympathy isn't really deserved. Wollay managed to.

wollay's known for being completely fucking silent until he has something concrete to put out, three month stretches are the norm.

Plus getting DDoS'd an getting rammed with problems an issues on the forums right away, It's tough. I just don't think you understand it. It may have its problems here an there, atleast its out an you can play if you can.
Cube world has so much fucking potential. I want it to become amazing.
