• Terminator: Genisys gets two sequels dated for 2017 and 2018
Summer 2015′s Terminator: Genisys – the fifth movie installment in the Terminator franchise overall – is shaping up to be a “soft” reboot of the sci-fi property; last year, Paramount Pictures also confirmed that the film will be “the first in a stand-alone trilogy” of movies. Paramount has now officially dated the two sequels to Genisys for theatrical release in 2017 and 2018, respectively, which lends credence to those older rumors that the films will shoot back to back over the course of nine months. Very little has been (officially) revealed about the story for Genisys, though we know the plot involves a T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) – one whose biological exterior has aged - and Sarah Connor, John Connor, and Kyle Reese, now played by Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, and Jai Courtney, respectively. We also know that two new characters – being played by J.K. Simmons and Matt Smith – will be introduced in Genisys, as the setup for them to become more important players in the followups (possibly the same will hold true for Dayo Okeniyi as Danny Dyson). Genisys is based on a screenplay penned by writer/producer Laeta Kalogridis (Avatar, Shutter Island) and writer/director Patrick Lussier (My Bloody Valentine, Drive Angry), with Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) serving as helmsman on the project. It’s not clear which, if any, of these three individuals will be returning to work on the next two Terminator films; nor, for that matter, has it been revealed just yet how, exactly, Genisys will re-imagine/update the mythos and/or subtext of the Terminator property.
http://screenrant.com/terminator-genisys-5-6-7-release-dates-2017-2018/
That's pretty early to announced the sequels don't you think since they're filming the reboot imo.
That's still the most stupid name.
That's still the most stupid name.
Sounds appropriately cheesy to me.
Sounds appropriately cheesy to me.
But Terminator wasn't cheesy. Maybe today some of the special effects are cheesy, but they're still serious movies.
Terminator is meant to be hopelessly grimdark, a 'soft' reboot is sure to destroy what little is left of Cameron's original vision
Have the terminator go back to jesus times.
If I recall Salvation was meant to be a trilogy. But then it ended up not doing too well with reviews so they scrapped the idea. Guess this is their attempt to do it again.
pg-13 Terminator? yea i'll pass
If I recall Salvation was meant to be a trilogy. But then it ended up not doing too well with reviews so they scrapped the idea. Guess this is their attempt to do it again.
In that case, Terminator: Genisys sucks balls and it shouldn't be a trilogy.
That's pretty early to announced the sequels don't you think since they're filming the reboot imo.
They announced the sequels way back when they were still casting.
genisys could be the name of a new line for transformers toys
They announced the sequels way back when they were still casting.
Aye but it's still so bloody premature it hasn't even gotten to first base yet.
That's still the most stupid name.
its something i can picture Arnold himself saying far too well
So they're already planning it as a trilogy. Big deal. Peter Jackson did the same with Lord of the Rings. If the first movie bombs at the box office then they'll probably cancel the sequels.
That's still the most stupid name.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Information_Awareness_Office#Genisys
Genisys aimed at developing technologies which would enable "ultra-large, all-source information repositories".[21] Vast amounts of information were going to be collected and analyzed, and the available database technology at the time was insufficient for storing and organizing such enormous quantities of data. So they developed techniques for virtual data aggregation in order to support effective analysis across heterogeneous databases, as well as unstructured public data sources, such as the World Wide Web. "Effective analysis across heterogenous databases" means the ability to take things from databases which are designed to store different types of data—such as a database containing criminal records, a phone call database and a foreign intelligence database. The World Wide Web is considered an "unstructured public data source" because it is publicly accessible and contains many different types of data—such as blogs, emails, records of visits to web sites, etc.—all of which need to be analyzed and stored efficiently.[21] Another goal was to develop "a large, distributed system architecture for managing the huge volume of raw data input, analysis results, and feedback, that will result in a simpler, more flexible data store that performs well and allows us to retain important data indefinitely."[21]
It's the new Skynet.

There were no Terminator films made after number three. NONE.
there was no reason to change from skynet to genisys though.. skynet sounds way cooler
I guess the real skynet was starting to get touchy and was threatening to sue them for deformation and slander.
Stop stop, it's already dead!!
Fuck, so much for any hope for this movie
There were no Terminator films made after number three. NONE.
far as i'm concerned there were none after 2 and even 2 feels like a watered down cashgrab compared to the first one maybe i'm just a hipster idk
and even 2 feels like a watered down cashgrab compared to the first one
I thought 2 was better but oh well.
both are great but for different reasons IMO, the only real gripe that i have with 2 is that it doesn't really keep the dark atmosphere as well as the first film
Yeah I think you're right about that. Same thing with Alien to Aliens.
both are great but for different reasons IMO, the only real gripe that i have with 2 is that it doesn't really keep the dark atmosphere as well as the first film
I like 1 more because Michael Biehn was so great in the movie.
I like 1 for the messy synth soundtrack that makes the whole thing seem that much more tense
I watched the first film today, the 1987 one. I was cringing the entire film, some of the scenes were just ridiculous such as the scenes where his left eye is robotic, it is clearly not arnold in those scenes, its a mask. But then i remember its an old film so i pass.
i'm so glad that terminator 2 had way better practical effects, it makes it feel.. more "timeless" than t1. there aren't really any scenes that scream 80s except for the special effects (when the liquid terminator morphs).
I actually found him to be quite suited to that role, modern Arnold is always "Arnold" in his movies, with the original Terminator he was still relatively unknown. He was this blank, menacing, unstoppable force that mowed down people without blinking an eye, no quips or one liners just monotone, which added to the image of a killing machine. Although it's not a very popular opinion, I enjoyed the original Terminator more than the second, but they are very different films.
But then i remember its an old film so i pass.
It's not just an old film, terminator was a film largely responsible for getting cameron the $$$ needed for his better looking stuff. Not really sure why you'd be cringing the entire film though, really the only stand out scenes that are bad looking are the mirror and the ending shot of the full body terminator coming down the hallway. I saw T1 waaay after i saw T2 and those scenes made me actually laugh but for the most part the movie seemed to hold up decently because they never really did much outside of their scope. Also considering the limited budget, the future war scene in the intro is pretty impressive.
