Far Cry 4 is set in the Himalayas. It will have rideable elephants
All of my yes.
I got off the Assassin's Creed train after two really. Far Cry 4 sounds cool though.
Far Cry 3 was great, Far Cry 4 will be amazing then.
Calling it "Assassin's Creed: Unity" will never not remind me of the game engine.
The French setting makes me instantly not hyped for AC, I was pretty much dead set on a Japanese/Samurai game for some reason.

Well it makes me not hyped because I figure It'll be just like 2 again.

Imagine if it was on Unity though. That should totally happen.

Oh my god why did I never think of this. An assassin's creed set in the sengoku period where you get to be a fucking ninja would be amazing.
Gives me Florence feeling, nice.
I wonder how FC4 can top 3, after 3 was so awesome
Far Cry 3 had a boring as fuck setting in my opinion, by the time it was out the tropical jungle setting had already been grinded to dust by its predecessors. The Himalayans sound a lot more interesting.
I just wish they'll go back to Africa at some point. The desert/arid sections of Far Cry 2 looked really damn good and I still play the game every now and then just for the exploration part, it's a shame the rest of the game is garbage in comparison.

While Far Cry 3 was more fun to play, it was very disappointing in terms of game mechanics when compared to Far Cry 2. Hunting became pointless after you had the upgrades, the only enemies in areas would be a few patrols or animals after you captured places, the majority of weapons could be obtained for free which made buying them pointless, craftable items didn't even look different despite being made out of different leather, looting just give you a random name and an icon etc. There were a few things that i think FC2 did better, such as the fast travel system and weapon unlocks. The story in FC3 was also a disappointment.

It felt to me they kinda abandoned the assassin theme after 2 and just focused on making games around "galleries" of important Western people and events.
With that goal you can't set games in Asia because the main audience will only recognize, what, Buddha, Sun Tzu and the Opium Wars maybe.
Personally I really liked AC1 because of the exotic setting. AC2 wasn't quite as exotic, but it was still historically distant enough to invoke a similar atmosphere, and although the story wasn't about the titular creed anymore, Ubi put a lot of effort into the character to create an assassin with personal motives, which still worked fine.
Then AC3 and 4 just felt like full on "gallery mode" to me.
I do wonder why they keep progressing the timeline tho, the scifi framing doesn't demand it and the feature creep would make for a refreshing overhaul. Then again, even after AC3's ending the shadow of Desmond Miles STILL haunts us for no good reason, so...
Good settings for both games.
Far Cry 4 theme

They both sound cool, but I'm placing my bets on some form of Blood Dragon 2 announcement- Biehn got a call shortly after the release from BD's director claiming that he "wanted to make a franchise out of it or something. He's got a sequel in mind".

The tropical jungle setting was pretty new for open world stuff, and it was really pretty. The himalayas will be completely new for anything, except maybe ducktails.
Plus, the Himalayas are really diverse in terms of ecology.
just improve upon the sneaking pls, never has it been so stressful to utilize sneaking mechanics in a game with how incredibly bad they were

uncharted 2 had you going to the himalayas too, which was damn nice looking

What? Have you played Far Cry 3? The stealth was actually pretty good for a FPS.
Far Cry 2's stealth was horrid, but Far Cry 3's was totally fine to use, a little too easy if anything.
which is exactly my point, the AI was downright retarded
i also remember though they had a HUUUUUUUUUUGE viewsight, i could be crouching in a grassy field a mile away and they could easily spot me

Nah, you're thinking of Far Cry 2 for sure.
Try playing it again, there's not much that's frustrating about Far Cry 3's stealth, plus if they spot you you can just rehide again, from what I can recall.
I've been spotted from pretty ridiculous places as well in FC3. The only challenge in sneaking around in FC3 pretty much comes from some people having the ability to see you from miles away. Also the AI is pretty shitty, specially when you snipe somebody a good 500 or so meters away and everybody just magically starts running towards your general location even if you use a silenced weapon
this holy fuck this is what i was majorly thinking of
what the hell would be the point in using a sniper rifle if ALL the enemies magically know where you are, like they have echolocation or some shit? especially silencing your weapon, completely pointless to have it on if it makes barely a change at all
It's been a long time since I played Far Cry 3, so perhaps I have selective memory on the matter, but I don't remember any of that happening to me when I played.
There's not enough open world games set in snowy, mountainous environments. I'm all for FC4
Himalayas? Holy shit, seriously hope they pull this off well, this could be absolutely fantastic.
Also French Revolution in AC was bound to happen eventually, it's been speculated since AC2.
Well at least the French revolution setting leaves a lot of room for an interesting plot. It was just so chaotic, especially during the Terror.

They only run after you if they see you. Which makes sense, because presumably they'd be able to tell their comrades that someone's shooting them.
If they see a dead body, then they just get freaked out and on high alert, and silencers make a huge difference.
Watch this video, because it literally disproves everything you guys are saying: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odO5z4EdDvQ
If we were talking about FC2, you guys would be totally correct.
Open-world in the Himalayas? There's an original idea. I can't wait to see how that turns out.
I'm hyped for AC5 as well, but I hope it won't be redundant in comparison to AC3, with the whole revolution/patriotic thing.

They're still technically correct. If you shoot twice from the same location too quickly, silencer or not people are going to start looking in your direction, and unless you beat cheeks they're going to find you. I've had this happen a lot because I got too trigger happy in my sniping.

Are you kidding me? Unity is terrible for AAA games.
