Dominique Gisin and Tina Maze made Winter Olympics history in the women's downhill as they shared the gold medal in Sochi.
Switzerland's Gisin and the Slovenian Maze both recorded a time of 1min 41.57sec at the Rosa Khutor Alpine Centre to become the first athletes to share the top of the podium in the Winter Games.

"I have no words. This doesn't feel real. I will have to see my team to get myself together and realise how much this means to us," said Maze, who claimed silver in the Super-G and giant slalom four years ago.
"I have been dreaming about this since I was little. The first ski race I ever won in my life was a downhill, so before I went down the track today I said to myself: 'This has to be it. I can do it,' and I just went for it."
The soft conditions were just right for 28-year-old Gisin, who competed in the downhill in Vancouver but failed to finish the race. "This is incredible. I am overwhelmed with emotions," she said.
"I am so happy – what a day. I don't think I even dreamt about this. Now that I have won, I am living the dream, but this is better than dreaming."
Slovenia master race
I'd give them both gold medals. With my dick.
Thats great for both of them.
Imagine though if one of them was the 0.01 second off and lost the gold becuase of it.

If only our men ski team would be a bit better/had more luck.
As a Swiss with some Slovenian origins I'm pretty happy about that.
"So... who gets to take it home?"

Both. No silver medal is awarded.

heh heh he
Congrats to both.... BUT....
Wait... so your telling me the Olympic officials can't use a timer that's more accurate then 2 decimal places? These athletes are suppose to be the best of the best and they should be judged as such. I mean I just feel like something could have been done to see who truly was the fastest... even by the tip of a needle. I think it would have been more amazing to see that Gisin actually won by .0003 of a second.
Maybe im being too picky, but 2 first places isn't what 1st place in the world is suppose to be. Someone here was faster then the other... they just didn't have the right tools to judge who it was.

The International Ski Federation (who makes the rules and does everything) decided whenever that they only needed to time to a hundredths of a second instead of a thousandth. They are probably going to change that after the games though.
The IOC has no real control over the rules and in turn how they time things.

I'd give you two purple eyes with my fists.

Who cares about who was the fastest. It's not even about who's the best at that point, a couple milliseconds is pure luck.
Congrats to bot. Also, Lara Gut got bronze, was a good day for the Swiss ski team.

Gisan gets it Mondays through Fridays, and Maze has it weekends and one month out of the Summer.

I'm quite sure three decimal places are not used due to margin of error. And that could mean someone misses out on a medal due to a very slight incorrect reading. I think sharing medals is probably the best way, instead of going to three decimal places tbh.
jesus christ do you guys have to sexualize everything involving women
