Hello Facepunch. I have a question that I don't think any of you can answer. Still, it is something that I need to question. So yeah, what is size? And is size infinite? If size is infinite, what are we a part of? And do we even matter, then? How big can something be, and how small can something get? Post what ever you think. I cannot rest before I get an answer. Also, this might seem as a herpty derp thread at first, but try to think of it. Look at your hand. If you could zoom into your hand, for how long would you be able to zoom in? And what would you see? And try to look outside, and look up to the sky. For how long would you be able to go out there. What would you eventually stumble upon? It's driving me mad.
What exactly are you smoking?
Is this PUI? And Size is an abstract concept we use to measure the scale of something, generally in relation to ourselves. I'm not sure what you're hoping to get out of this OP.
What exactly are you smoking?
Nothing. But if I were to smoke something, I don't know what would happen to me.
As far as we know there is no limit to how big something can be. Continuing to ask "but what if there is?!" is useless and you'll just sound like a wannabe philosopher. I'd be delighted though if somebody pointed me to something more than a theory regarding how big something can be. Also imagine the concept of infinitely getting closer to something. Let's say you had a pin facing a wall, 1 centimetre away. So you move it half a centimetre closer. And then half of that, and half of THAT, and so on.
Nothing. But if I were to smoke something, I don't know what would happen to me.
It depends on not only what you were smoking but also your brain chemistry, your weight and other various factors. Then you would know or at least have a rough estimate. It's not very predictable when you're new to the substance, especially with something like cannabis.

But how can something be infinite? I don't get the world. If keeps fucking my mind over and over.
size is a unicorn that collects autumn leaves go away now
I find that not enough people visiting this thread has been looking at their hand. Look at your fucking hand. How far would you be able to go into it? Just fucking look at it.
Size in relation to perspective?
The reason why I'm asking all of this is because of something I saw on TV just now. It is a horse that had just taken a shit. They zoom in very much on the horse shit. There is growing small mushrooms/plants or what ever on the shit. Those plants build up a pressure using water, and launches their seeds 2 metres away with the speed of 100 times faster than sound. Just makes you think about the world you live in.

Size is what you'll feel when you bend over the kitchen counter <3
there are so many things larger than your dick it's not funny
no size is a measurement therefore immeasurable size has no size
But how can something be infinite? I don't get the world. If keeps fucking my mind over and over.
yeah, and wft is an atom anyway who the fuck was all, like, "atoms are a thing" and everyone was just all 'ok'
the fuck are you watching the fuck are you smoking the fuuuuuck
no size is a measurement therefore immeasurable size has no size
Shit.
What is size?
Something I have and you lack.
like just apparently some scientist 100 years ago just up and said "the world is made up of atoms and ions and shit" and no one called him out on his shit like, what if hes wrong and actually everything in the universe is actually like made up of tiny universes, like all of the skin particles in my arm are all just tiny universes where tiny dudes have tiny arms made up of even tinier universes and our universe is just like a X chromosome in some dude in a giant universe
Size is the label we give to: 1. the spatial dimensions, proportions, magnitude, or bulk of anything: the size of a farm; the size of the fish you caught. 2. considerable or great magnitude: to seek size rather than quality. 3. one of a series of graduated measures for articles of manufacture or trade: children's sizes of shoes. 4. extent; amount; range: a fortune of great size. 5. actual condition, circumstance, or state of affairs: That's about the size of it. Dictionary powerrrrrr
i mean if atoms are a thing then atoms are mostly space and so there's no reason that i can't fall through the floor right now because none of my atoms would be touching any of the atoms of the floor and id just be sinking down into the molte n core of tthe earth and the heat rays would start melting my atomic structure and o h god oh god ohf god og god
and how small can something get
There is a length at which the universe becomes granular. Its called the plank length and is equal to 1.616252(81)×10−35 meters. Thats 0.00000000000000000000000000000000016 meters. This is a very small length. Much much much smaller than an atom. In fact, if an atom were the size of the earth, the plank length would be roughly the size of a normal atom compared to it. At this small scale physics breaks down and you mathematically cant talk about 1/2 of a plank unit. As far as largeness goes, I would say you are limited by gravity. The larger something gets, the more it wants to collapse into itself due to gravity, this is what happens to large stars when they become black holes. The largest *kinda* physical objects in the universe are galactic super-clusters which are gravitationally bound groups of galaxies. I guess you could even consider the universe as an object.
Well, the smallest possible length that can physically exist as far as we know is the Planck Length (or least some under some systems everything becomes indistinguisable at lower lengths. As for the maximum, that would be constrained by the maximum size of the universe (which is finite). Does that help somewhat?
All you need to know is that size MATTERS.
Size is relative
Size is an abstract. Size can be viewed as volume, mass, weight, distance, et cetera. The reason you can't explain size is because size is a general word for specific descriptions.
Mother fucker my IQ just went up 2
yeah, and wft is an atom anyway who the fuck was all, like, "atoms are a thing" and everyone was just all 'ok'
That's not how science works. Pretty much everything in your life you have because scientists have made it possible. Science works by testing hypotheses. We know atoms exist because we can test them. In fact, we can even see them thanks to electron beam microscopes.
I started zooming into my hand and then it hit my face. I'm blaming you for this.
