Anub’arak was resurrected as a slave of the Lich King in an era of WoW I’m sure many of you remember.
My fucking god, so much wrong.
My fucking god, so much wrong.
Anub'Arak was raised as a Crypt Lord after he was killed by Ner'zhul (the former Lich King) and then resurrected. He was then killed again in Wrath of the Lich King as the final boss of Azjol-Nerub. Finally, he was resurrected by Arthus and subsequently killed for a third and last time as the final boss of Trial of the Crusader raid. His second death in Azjol-Nerub alludes to his slavery while his death in the Trial alludes to him basically being a husk of his former self. So how is any of that wrong?

Him and Arthas were buds iirc from WC3---->WoW, the only reason he got such a shitty boss fight and death is because they ran out of time making Azjol-Nerub an entire leveling zone with a raid, so instead through him in a dungeon they made using all the assets and shit. The only real connection of slavery I could see is from the faceless ones and old gods who seemed to have taken over that other bugman raid, but they are against Arthas.

To pull the quote from Wowwiki since I don't remember the exact words off hand, he said "Never thought... I would be free of him...". Furthermore, and I guess I had forgotten this bit, but of course the wiki didn't, was that the book Arthas: Rise of the Lich King (a fantastic book by the way) also paints Anub'Arak as more a thing that serves because he must, rather than because he can. Assuming the above is true, then the fact that he shows gleeful obedience during the Trial of the Crusader seems to imply that the Anub'arak you see there is nothing more than forced obedience from the Lich King.
His trailer introduces the idea that Heroes of the Storm’s champions might actually retain memories of past events, and some self-awarness about the “strange place” they’ve been suddenly transported to for abstract 5v5 matches.
It's like they didn't even play the game. The tutorial walks you through the concept of the nexus with Raynor.
