White Americans feel they are more discriminated against than blacks, a new study reveals. Sociologists from Harvard and Tufts universities asked 209 white and 208 black men and women to rate 'racism' against both ethnic groups since the 1950s on a scale of one to 10. The results showed that while both blacks and whites saw anti-black racism decreasing over the decades, whites saw race relations as a 'zero sum game' where they were losing out as blacks 'gained' the advantage. The results, published in the journal Perspectives on Psychological Science, showed that on average blacks saw anti-white bias rising slightly from 1.4 in the 1950s to 1.8 today. Blacks also perceived that racism against themselves had steeply declined from 9.7 in the 1950s to 6.1 in the 90s. White respondents, however, saw a very different picture. For the 2000s, 11 per cent of whites gave anti-white bias the maximum 10 out of 10 rating, compared with only two per cent of whites who did so for anti-black bias. Whites believed that discrimination against them had increased from an average of 1.8 in the 1950s to 4.7 in the 2000s. All those surveyed were asked: 'Indicate how much you think blacks/whites were/are the victims of discrimination in the United States in each of the following decades.' Responding to the results, researchers Michael Norton and Samuel Sommers said that despite predictions that Barack Obama's election in 2008 would herald a 'post racial' America, this had not in fact occurred. They concluded: 'A flurry of legal and cultural disputes over the past decade has revealed a new race-related controversy gaining traction: an emerging belief in anti-white prejudice. 'Whites think more progress has been made toward equality than do blacks, but whites also now believe that this progress is linked to a new inequality—at their expense.' Citing several studies, researchers speculated that white people tended to see any focus on ethnic minorities as an 'attack' on white values.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1390205/Whites-suffer-racism-blacks-Study-shows-white-people-believe-discriminated-against.html
damn honkeys
THIS STUDY IS RACIST MADE BY BLACKS TO OPRESS WHITES GET RID OF THE MUSLIMOBONGO OUT OF AMERICA Seriously though, besides extreme cases, I don't see why anyone would see "anti-white" as the majority viewpoint. It's not like we're segregated into separate, run down bathrooms or anything.
I had a middle aged black dude tell me "hold the door open for me you white bitch" the day Obama got re-elected.
I hear the very north of the north island in new zealand it is almost impossible to get a job if you're of white descent. however like 99.5% percent of whites believing they're being discriminated against is horseshit.

now, to see how long till someone comes in this topic and post the "they might actually have a point" or something like that :v:
the fact that universities are forced to accept certain numbers of minorities fucks white people over.
well that was faster than i thought :suicide:
the fact that universities are forced to accept certain numbers of minorities fucks white people over.
If we want people to feel equal why do we do shit like this? Doesn't it all just "segregate" us more?
Sounds more like racists being called out on their bullshit, and in return they desperately try to pull the "OMG discrimination" card themselves. Not denying that there is legitimate cases, but those numbers are odd as hell.
crackas
If we want people to feel equal why do we do shit like this? Doesn't it all just "segregate" us more?
cause how can we say equality is at work when we forcibly enslaved a large amount of africans and segregated their future generations into shitty neighborhoods thats unable to compete with kids going to private schools? its like league of legends, and the other team starts with 10,000 gold while yours starts negative 500, then they tell you to deal with it and advance by your own bootstraps cause we should all be equal
From what I've seen, it's not so much an anti-white bias from blacks so much as from other minorities. Just my experience.

Guys this is DailyMail. I wonder when will they finally lose their profit. [editline]18th January 2014[/editline] Obligatory post for DailyMail articles.

It's the same thing in France honestly. The national front party (which was founded by a massive xenophobe AND holocaust negationist, and is currently lead by his equally racist daughter) is actively trying to push every and all immigrants or "foreigners" out of the land to keep the place clean for "the true French" (which is blatantly ignoring the cultural origins of the entire country) and when they get called out for being slightly fucking racist they just go "omg you're oppressing us we're the one being discriminated against what injustice".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0tzZ__Z5Qw
white guilt isn't real
They shouldn't say white. That's our word.
I have a dream that one day little white boys and girls will be holding hands with little black boys and girls.
Guys this is DailyMail.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day. It's a legit study from an actual journal for once. I've been fascinated by this since before it was published. People viewing prejudice as a zero-sum game could be applied to more than just race- it'd be interesting to apply it to things like anti-feminist backlash movements, transphobes, etc. If it's a faulty reasoning that affects one type of bias, it'd stand to reason that it'd affect others.
the fact that universities are forced to accept certain numbers of minorities fucks white people over.
That's hardly even enforced. But of course, white people love to whine about it. Because it's the only thing they could possibly ever complain about.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
cause how can we say equality is at work when we forcibly enslaved a large amount of africans and segregated their future generations into shitty neighborhoods thats unable to compete with kids going to private schools?
can people stop bringing slavery in to the equation every time equality is discussed? You have not enslaved a single person and neither have anyone else is several hundred years. Black people have just about the same chance to study as a white person in the same situation. I'm not going to sit here and compare some black person in the ghetto and a rich white person in private school but rather two average students of different ethnicity instead. If we by example say that the black person had slightly lower grades than the white student but the black student got in to college but not the white student just because he was white, isn't that inequality?

Slavery and the history of racism has had a huge impact on black culture and how you're treated today if you're black. It's basically why black culture exists in the first place. Also, people aren't comparing extremes, they're comparing the average black person and the average white person. Your example doesn't happen. And if it did, the white person would sue and win. What does happen however, is white people with slightly lower grades or qualifications getting accepted into places. And I'd also like to point out that slavery in America ended 150 years ago, not "several hundred". That's fewer generations than you think.
lmao wtf is this real life
Of course! Haven't you heard? Slavery was the only thing bad to happen to black people. Us getting segregated up until the 70's and the poor management of desegregation with the effects of said desegregation visible to this day never happened. Then again I'll cut him slack because like the other posted pointed out, it appears he is Swedish and likely isn't familiar with what has happened in America. Of course ghetto people aren't exactly helping our reputation either. Getting stared at like you're going to mug someone because you're black is an actual thing still.
the fact that universities are forced to accept certain numbers of minorities fucks white people over.
But it's the same thing with board of executives in companies in sweden. you have to have women in your board, even if all male applicants were better choices. [editline]18th January 2014[/editline]
lmao wtf is this real life
so a black person living with white people in the middle class suburbs cant study like a white person in the suburbs because he's black?
No, but I instead lived in the poorer areas in sweden due to my parents being divorced and my mother can't work due to a neck injury from a car crash. Several decades ago a black person could be arrested for simply being in a white area of town. You can't seriously expect black people to suddenly be on the same level of everyone else in this sort of timespan. All the black families didn't just suddenly get up and go into white areas of town to study all of a sudden. Some stayed where they lived out of convience and fear of physical harm where standards of living were far lower than another part of a city. Lots of white people didn't suddenly stop being racist either. Blacks were not treated kindly in areas that were previously off limits due to segregation. Many black people DON'T live in cushy suburbs with other white people at all. Many are still in areas mainly inhabited by other black people. Even the city I live in now outright banned black people up until a couple of decades ago from going anywhere near the place.
But it's the same thing with board of executives in companies in sweden. you have to have women in your board, even if all male applicants were better choices.
the system is set up like that to prevent discrimination against poc and non male applicants. it's a much lesser evil to potentially not let some male applicants in to allow poc and non male applicants in than it is to risk a biased person in charge to only let white males in instead of a potential better candidate who isn't.

But they have made a huge leap of progress in just a matter of years. Your president is even black. and that means he had to study somewhere. And yes I am aware that there are still ghettos with people that aren't living under the greatest of conditions, but as I said I am not going to compare people living in the ghetto with people in the middle class suburbs. Edit My bad, read your women as your people.
