Yes, from NVIDIA, not an add-in-board partner. When I called the tech support number listed inside the box, the guy on the phone in India told me that NVIDIA did not sell video cards. Surprise surprise surprise, the company does now. Shades of 3dfx? HardOCP will have a full story and editorial published in the morning.
The box is boner-ific
:awesome: I was going to buy a card, but now I have to wait.
Fancy.
I want it, more than anything.
I cant see them selling anything other than reference cards though
Oooooh, shiny. At least, it looks like it is. Those reflective things... they are, right?
I really don't like this idea...
>mfw he bought the gts450. Why would he buy that? Thats just a rebranded 8800.
maybe this means we get those sexy reference coolers without ugly stickers on them

This is a great idea. I've actually been waiting for nV to do this for years now. [editline]07:26PM[/editline]
[img_thumb]http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs208.snc1/7521_1210979828591_1051604843_657970_7520058_n.jpg[/img_thumb] uh yeah
lolwut
That's old news. When I built my computer about six years ago, I bought all the parts from a local computer store. That included an Nvidia video card. Still have the box too.
B1NARY, have you not noticed that the reference coolers look like the batmobile? :v: [editline]02:29AM[/editline]
That's old news.
B1NARY, have you not noticed that the reference coolers look like the batmobile? :v:
or that it looks like R2D2 is on the back.
jizzed in my pants fucking retail reference design nvidia gpus? yes please
Funny, I was at a Best Buy on Sunday and noticed that exact same thing too. The product label said NVIDIA NVIDIA GTS 450.

I'm assuming it's cheaper because of no distributor markups?
I have been using a card straight from nvidia for a LONG time now. and they are DAMN sexy looking.
Been using my 8800GT for about 4 years now, still running good. Edit: I was referring to Nsybouts, not the fucking article you dumbshits.
I bet EVGA and all the other Nvidia distributors will love this. [editline]12:08AM[/editline] I bet they go the way of XFX.
It's too little, too late. What, is nVidia cutting out the middle man (partner distributors) to save a few bucks? I don't understand... :bang:

what is that thing on the top?
That thing with the strings going around the box? It's a security device Best buy uses. It's got an alarm that will go off if you try to leave the store with it.
what is that thing on the top?
It's an anti-theft alarm. You cut the wire, it goes off. You tamper with it, or leave the store's proximity, it goes off... You get the idea... Damn, ninja'd. :frown:
i saw a nvidia box in best buy a few days ago. i didn't really take notice it was directly retailed by nvidia.

Either they are going to make the standard cards, leaving the overclocked and non-standard coolers editions to the others, or they want to eliminate them completely. [editline]07:20AM[/editline]
Only at Best Buy. :frown: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=2327824#post2327824
Probably going to be expanded to other retailers later on.
Holy dick this is fantastic. Hopefully because nVidia is directly marketing their product prices will be cut on the cards, since we don't have to pay for the middleman. Of course I hardly know anything about how the hardware market works so what I'm saying could be totally wrong lol.
I have an idea that this is going to be shit expensive. It usually is when the manufacturer starts to sell, because it isn't their main focus. If nvidia started earning 100% profits, then that would be massive ammounts. 60% of steam's players uses nvidia, that's a lot of money.
