>can run TF2 on its highest possible settings with no lag >dual monitors would be bitchin >can run modded Skyrim on good or best settings with no lag >can run minecraft on good settings I don't want to go all out and spend a fortune on a pc because I won't use it much. I can buy a prebuilt or build one. I don't really care. The pc I have is too small to upgrade. Is it possible to take all the parts out of this pc and put them in a bigger case? THEN upgrade the ram (up to 8gb DDR3 from the current 4gb DDR3) and then upgrade the video card? Then add a few hard drives? Can I do that?
Can we have your current specs, and a budget please? Skyrim is an unoptimized game, modding makes it even harder too run. You would probably have to spend a fortune to get that to run smoothly with HD textures, improved models and ENB etc etc.
This is my current PC http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883103269 Maybe Skyrim doesn't have to be top of the line HD...just better than the way my console version looks. Current specs: Pentium E6600 (3.06GHz) 4GB DDR3 640GB HDD Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Intel GMA X4500

I probably have to upgrade the power supply too, come to think of it...
Well for reference, I have: GeForce 560ti 8Gb RAM i5 2500k 3.30GHz That runs Skyrim on maximum at around 25fps at the most hectic times, around 35fps normal. You are looking at $400 for the RAM/CPU/GPU but not including case etc.
I've just upgraded from a GTX 560 ti to a GTX 770 and I can confirm that it ran Skyrim rather damn well on max.
I suggest an Intel I5 4690 with a motherboard using the Z97 or H97 chipset, that along with a good GPU should max most games, since you mentioned Minecraft you might also want to grab 8GB of RAM so you can run it in a ramdisk, particularly important if you play it with a lot of mods. For storage a WD Blue or Black will do nicely. Use any good quality branded 600W power supply, I.E Corsair.
So could we get a budget?
I don't know. Six hundred bones? Budget is flexible.
My 660 runs Skyrim maxed. 750 ti/760 Should do for one monitor. I'd get at least 3GB of VRAM for a dual setup. Last time I checked, Minecraft was much more CPU and RAM dependent vs GPU usage. 770/780/280X/290 best fit the bill with extra headroom.
Is this including operating system and monitors?
Is this including operating system and monitors?
No. If I transfer the hard drive I'll still have windows 7 64 bit I can probably grab a monitor from Goodwill
