If you embed a video from youtube on a website/forum, will it get views?

Like I posted a video of mine on facepunch a few days ago, and the thread has 600 views, yet it says on youtube only one person from facepunch has viewed my video. Do I have to provide a link to get views? I thought embedding would work too?
I think the way Facepunch handles links could be something to do with why you dont get many views. It could also be that views dont update straight away.

Yeah, like I posted a different video of mine about a month ago, but I provided a link instead of embedding it, and it shows up saying facepunch provided 120 views. So that one went smooth.
..I hope youtube is just slow. Maybe it only counts views for embedded videos like once a week. I know views shouldn't matter but its hard to get them on something you worked hard on =(
Yes of course embedded videos gives views, a view is a view.

also Youtube is never accurate.

See that's what I thought, logical enough right? But it's been 3 days now and it's not updating with the views. It's this new insight system youtube has, it lets you see where your views are coming from. Facepunch is at 4 views now :] ..for a thread with 600 views. I'll just check it again in 2-3 days and hope for the best.

no idea why Facebook is on there
See, your thread had 1200 views though. Surely more then 130 of them watched the video?
When you embed the video, it also provides a link to the video on youtube..perhaps those 130 followed the link only, to see more of your videos?
My thread that I posted a few weeks ago only had 4 replies, and around 600 views. Yet I provided a link only, and look at the results

That's practically as many views as yours, yet my thread had half the views as yours. Not to mention, what do you think people on Facepunch would rather watch, a guitar cover or a GTA4 video? Definently the GTA4 video.
I think embedding on facepunch fucks the views up.
who cares about views anyways, it's not like you're a youtube partner that earns money.

i'm not looking to get money, I'm looking to make my youtube page popular. people who like my videos = motivation to make more videos and practice guitar harder.

Might wanna add a link to your youtube in your fp profile so it shows under your avatar then :o

Ahh never thought of that. It might help.
But yeah guys, it's been a few days since I changed my embed video (which I claimed wasn't allowing views to be added) to a link to my video instead. As a result, my youtube now says that I have 200+ views from facepunch (the thread I posted has been really popular lately).
I can pretty much confirm that embedding a video on facepunch will not give it views.
Why would this matter? Well, for people who spent a bunch of time on a video they made that might otherwise be hard to advertise, it's worth posting it as a link instead of embedding. Views on youtube = higher up on search results on youtube = more views.
Facepunch uses URL redirecting, so yeah, it's not going to show up.
why does it matter

What? How does that make sense? Yes, Facepunch uses a redirection thing for its links. But even so, if the YouTube video is able to appear and YouTube counted views from embedded videos, you'd still be getting the views.

why does it matter that your youtube videos get views
Because some people care about views? When you go on a video and see it has 3 views, you're like "Oh this video isn't very popular." and when you see a video with 11,000,000 views, you go "Wow! This video is really popular."
Plus you get a higher rank on Google and you'll appear closer to the top of the search results.

Views aren't that important anyway.

Why would you make a video if you didn't care if people watch it?
The idea of making a video is to get people to watch it.
That's the entire idea behind YouTube as well.
More Views = More Subscribers = More Motivation = More Videos

Trolling, that is.
Stop being an idiot.
wow stop being so mean
I like people to watch my videos because I put a lot of time into making them and perfecting whatever song it is I'm trying to play, and its rewarding to have people comment and motivate me to continue making them. I've also helped a bunch of people out that watch my videos and have questions, so more views = more people I can potentially lend a hand to.
What is www.facepunc
I don't know, but this happens to my videos as well. I think it has to due with embedding or something.
wow stop being so mean
Then stop being such a troll, you can look at your ban history. You've been banned at least 5 times for trolling and you should be banned again for it.
