• CPU going up to 120C

While taking out my motherboard and components from my tiny, tiny case to add a ATI 5770, I think I scraped off some of the thermal paste from the CPU, but the problem might be that the heatsink/fan isn't seated properly. I'm having trouble getting it back on, with the screws with springs on them. What do you think my problem is? Fan or paste?
It's not seated properly. Paste isn't going to make THAT much of a difference.
Yeah, alrighty then. Since I'm so paranoid over it, I'll still reapply some from my friend, can't do any harm. I think I might've had it in the wrong position, since the screws weren't going in right.
Had that happen to my i7, it's the fan screws.
It's not seated properly. See that the fan isn't loose in any way. Also, general tip: Always apply new layer of thermal paste after you take off your fan. (That is if you're using proper thermal paste and not the standard shit) It won't really make much different if you are really careful when you put it back on, but if you are using proper thermal paste, it contains metals, which will be bad to get anywhere else than on the top of the CPU. I always clean the CPU and heat sink for thermal paste and apply new layer each time i take it on and off.
It's not seated properly. Paste isn't going to make THAT much of a difference.
I've seen cases where the thermal paste made about 15 degrees of differences, but jumping all the way to 120 is insane. Must be the seating
Yeah, I mentioned that I couldn't get the fan screws in properly. Thanks a lot guys.
